Just updating my Urgent list. This is what I've done so far today:(

Golly I'm exhausted just reading that. :T
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
  • Afternoon all,

On lunch at work so thought I'd catch up with thread.
Bossy thanks for list and big hugs x
    CY wind made me laugh!
Iona your list made me need a lie down just reading it, and I am amazed how much you've done already.
    FBOWell done x
Robber welcome, and I echo what others have said re mice. We have an old house that we are doing up. Lots of holes. We said our house must be on mouse trip advisor as a lovely winter retreat. We have caught a good few in the past using traps (dried fruit or chocolate proved popular) however last year we had to resort to poison. They seems to have not come back this autumn. Yet.

Anyway, back to work. Long day of paid stuff so probably will only manage daily stuff later x
  • Thanks for encouragement everyone. Have just been round our traps and found that only 2 out of 6 of them actually work! How embarrassing. Have just ordered loads more on amazon, and re-baited our working two with yummy peanut butter and put them where a bunch of droppings were. It is ON ;)

Just dropping in to comment on the mice... :)

I had a couple of infestations after moving in here. First one was dealt with using grain-based bait in the attic, but it was clear that it was a longstanding issue as the loft insulation was full of tunnels. Lots of climbers were cut down/back as they were growing right up into the roof, so acting as ladders.

Second infestation last winter was worse - I cut down the one climber I'd missed, put bait down all over the house which meant blue mouse poo giving even more clues to the fact that they were everywhere. Traps were baited with either chocolate or raisins dipped in peanut butter. I'm rubbish at setting them, but my brother is pretty good (they have mice. And cats that bring in mice) - he caught half a dozen while I was away for work one week. I also used pasta bait in the attic which seemed to me more effective than the grain - it was also easier to deal with - I could open the loft hatch and lob handfuls into the corners, rather than expecting them to come and find it. It soon stopped the tapdancing above my head. I did find one dead mouse under a bed :o

Loft insulation was removed recently, and was full of dessicated mice. They also found a rat trap ... before the new loft insulation went in they hoovered the entire loft as it was covered in a thin layer of mouse poo :)

I can thoroughly recommend the pasta bait. I'm not sure I'd recommend cats - most of my friends reckon their cats are useless at dealing with mice in the house.

Bossy loads of Wolfy strength vibes for you, lass.

Just visiting while Mr LW is out buying H0nda oil, He's on leave this week, to use up the last of his annual leave rather than lose it, so Flying will be sporadic and haphazard. However, we did shift a wheelie-bin full of carp out of the front garden this morning.

I've had a fearful weekend; got a letter Saturday, they're stopping my DLA and I have to apply for PIP. Not made easy - I can only apply in the first instance by phone (I am severely telephone phobic) - can have someone call for me, but I have to be with them at the time. Thank whatever deity cares to take credit that Mr LW is on leave!!

Anyways, he called them this morning - they insisted on speaking, albeit briefly, to me, which was just awful. Such is my phobia, I usually leave the room if Mr LW is using the phone. Plus of course I couldn't hear what they were saying properly.

Gah! I feel like I should've gone out in the garden and slit my wrists the other night, when I had a real urge to do so.:( Not fun trying to talk yourself out of it at 03:00 - wish I hadn't now.

If I have to manage without the money, so be it, I can do without things - like food. (Mr LW has said he'll subsidise me if it comes to it, but that is just not acceptable - I didn't marry him to sponge off him).
It's if they take away my Blue Badge I'll be really well and truly stuffed.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Oh LW I'm so sorry I do hope that there is some help you can get getting stupid bureaucrats to see sense. Can your dr or someone medical not intervene on your behalf and fight your corner. Depression on top of everything else is really not going to help you or mrlw.
I wish there was something more helpful or practical I could offer than a hug-and its a virtual one at that.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Aww wolfy hang in there chick. What a nightmare about the PIP situation. I've no experience there so no advice, but hope you get a waggy visitor soon to buoy your spirits. As for the wrists, leave them well alone please! You are much wanted and needed xx

FBO we are all so proud of you - each and every day is a little more success for you xx

So I've told my boss today that I'll be ticking the voluntary severance box when preferencing comes around. He said he might too  he was surprised at me but I guess also relieved that he wouldn't have to deal with a push rather than a jump, IYSWIM?..

Just making curry for tea and attending to the kitchen :)

I must admit that the rodent stories have made me laugh :rotfl: though they can't have been funny for those involved at the time.

LW, I'm so sorry you've had such a carp weekend, but please remember that however bad things get for you, we need you on this thread just as much as you need us. :grouphug:

Before lunch I managed to place two orders with discounts of 15% and 20% :money: The meeting this afternoon was very useful, and I dealt with postage and returns on the way home. My list has shrunk very satisfactorily today - it just goes to show that if I'd dealt with these things earlier, I would not feel so snowed under now. :o However, I must also add a couple more things that I've just remembered to the second "half" of the list for later in the week...

I've just got time to do a couple more little bits while the bolognese is bubbling, before I cook the pasta nom-nom :D

LW.. We have to do DS3's DLA to PIP recently.. He spoke to them initially gave his name and NI number and asked if they would speak to me, I then offered myself as his nominated person and a very nice man came round to see us both to make sure I was not coercing him to get money off him but that was the extent of his telephone usage.. just his name, DOB and NI number.. if that makes you feel even a tiny bit less worried!

  • Sending strength vibes to LW and bossy.

I know people with experience of PIP, none of whom found it an easy experience. I can't bear the current attitude towards the disabled...

I haven't achieved much today, but I have done some washing and cooked the tea. Well I suppose the world wasn't built in a day as my mum would say.
