robberbutton - Welcome
Paid stuff today, but I stayed up last night and got a lot of the time consuming part done. [STRIKE]I am literally waiting on the delivery to arrive so I can get on with the next step[/STRIKE]. My delivery arrived while I was posting this.
I need to make a Mr A run today. I went yesterday but then last night I was up until 2.30 and as a result I had the munches. At that time of night an apple just won't cut it so I had crisps and jaffa cakes from DD's lunch supplyI need to replace them, but she's also asked me to pick up some more headphones for her as she's lost one set, broken another, and I think she broke another set as well. I'll see how much they are before I go buying her some from Mr A though. I think I got her last set from h0mebargains.

Happy Monday: Kitchen
Level 1
Work your way round the counters - give it a really good clean, right into the corners and under any small appliances.
Level 2
Shine the sink.
Wipe down the cupboard fronts and kick boards.
Clean out the toaster - too many crumbs is a fire hazard!
Level 3
Shine a window or some tiles.
Pop a wash on.
Extras:
- Wipe down the outside of the kitchen door.
- Run the WM and/or DW on a hot wash to keep its insides happy
- Have a peek in the fridge to see what needs to be used up.
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Thanks everyone, and Pigpen. We have traps but either we're really stupid with them or our mice are really intelligent - never caught one! Will try more and in different places, and also peanut butter. We have guinea pigs so poison a no go, and am allergic to cats. Am gearing up for a good scrub of the kitchen todayGo to the ant, thou sluggard0

Hi All,
I'm coming back on the fly lady routine after a long absence... We have had lots of building work going on too and still on with doing it. But only sitting room, hall and bathrooms to go now so feel I best start cleaning again!
I'm just going to follow list to the letter and chuck in a few extras. Like ring Dyson as vacuum broken again! Never get a DC40 they are rubbish!
Thanks for List.. Best get going. My shiny new kitchen isn't going to stay shiny if it's not cleaned!£2021 in 2021... £253.86/£20210 -

Could the piggies not stay in their cage while you deal with squeakers?? Count how many trays of poison go out and how many you pick up again. It is super important to clear their food often too.. they like piggy food too! Obviously that's a given. The squeakers can bring in fleas which pass to the piggies.
traps need to be against skirtings and walls.. behind the fridge and cooker where it is warm.. Just move them around in places you know they go (follow the poo) when you catch 1 put the traps back in the same place they scent a path so others follow their trail..
Do you have any idea where they are getting in? .. cement up any holes.
have you tried those sonic things?? I'm not convinced they work but worth a try I guess.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I am in - will be fluttering as much as possible. Some washing is on the line blowing enthusiastically.
Didn't sleep too well last night - largely due to wind - both external and internal LOL.
DD1 is coming round for lunch. Looking forward to seeing her...
Hope everyone is having a good week. And 6 months congratulations to,FBO - you are doing so well!!!!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
We have an open C&C cage for the Guinea pigs, so potentially the mice could get in and carry the poison in there too. I could buy more squares and raise it off the floor - that might help.
Unfortunately our house is over 100 years old, and was not in a good state when we bought it 5 years ago - practically more holes than house! Doing it up is a sloooow process - it's amazing what you don't see once you're actually living in it.
Thanks for the ideasGo to the ant, thou sluggard0 -

Welcome Robberbutton. I'll echo what Pigpen said as we have a fair few visitors, our garden backs onto open fields and local furry rodents, large and small, seem to think we are some sort of Crisis shelter in winter. We have tried humane traps as we desperately hate killing things, but sadly it doesn't get them all. The trouble with poison is that they tend to eat it, crawl off and die somewhere inconvenient then smell (hope everyone has finished breakfast/lunch). With yukky snap traps, I caught 7 in my study in a week - clearly a family (whimper). Just kept putting the trap in the same place. Yes peanut butter is good, also just peanuts - mine were sniffing out the peanuts and sunflower kernels I fill up my bird feeders with. They can fit through minuscule holes, you wouldn't believe it. Pipe runs are popular; sure ours climb up from the garage to the upstairs shower.
So far today I've been to the gym, put away a few things cluttering up my dressing table, caught up with emails and now settling down to crack on with report writing.
FBO you are doing great and of course it is an illness.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0
