I do put lots of effort into the rest of the year and have a very full life. Like a lot of other people, however, Christmas does make me realise that I don't have a family of my own and I would have liked to.
But you do have a family of your own.0 -
My single friend goes somewhere hot and parties his speedos off... he goes out with friends at New Year and does a whole night of partying and fun then.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

That's one of the reasons i use to like working on the Cabs. Christmas Day would probably be the busiest of the year, so when anyone asked if i was doing anything special i could say ... I've got to work 'cos it's going to be dead after Christmas.
Now.... It's just another day.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Do you have any local friends that are good enough friends so you can ask to pop over for an hour or so after lunch?
I know we would be more than happy for friends to join us in the afternoon.0 -

I meant a husband and children. I understand I have my parents but they are getting older and I've really come to understand that they won't be around forever.0 -

You must be very kind! My local friends all have young children and from what I understand, have to see parents and in-laws on the day or are spending it with family outside of the area. Yes, they envy me lol! Typical grass is greener syndrome on both parts.
I think I'm just going to let Christmas Day be what it is and accept I've got plenty going on in the lead up to entertain me.0 -

Don't give up hope about meeting the 'right' person and having a family - as you're only 31 it is still possible0 -

Thank you! I do still hope. I know it seems silly to have written myself off but I come from a family and culture that marries young and I feel like something of an oddity sometimes.
Oh dear this thread has taken more of a depressing turn than I ever meant it to !0
