As long as thief got your bank statement and card and your date of birth from google.

If your date of birth can be found by googling, you do have a big problem. Have you published it on Facebook or other social media? What other of your personal data can people find by simply googling?

Hi, gunsandbanjos, we have the external mailbox. But in this case, Bank will be still responsible for the lost I had or not? We have the external mailbox but it's not my fault lol:o:o:o:o:o

Not your fault you have an external mailbox so you're not liable from that side, I'd think the bank 'should' reimburse you, however it depends whether you've compromised your own security information.

WOW these fraudsters are getting so slick. I never knew the outside mailbox issue.

do they all have the same key or something? Also are they leaving them broken or just like normal?

I never know of the southwark thing either. What's so special about there?

You would be amazed what fraudsters get up to!

You can buy skeleton keys for mailboxes, or depending on their design just stick your hand in.

Do you know what LOL stands for?
Are there any smiles left that you haven't used yet in this thread on pretty serious topic? My eyes hurt...

Sorry, I know it is serious. But I try to be cheerful. If it makes u uncomfortable, I apologize.

I have a company and I am the director. I think director's information can be known if you check online. I have facebook but I didn't use it for a long time.

But in this case, we are all in a risk? Since thief might come out every day

Anyone with an external mail box is at risk, yes fraudsters do go out every day, it's their job! There's higher risks in certain parts of the country as there are organised gangs operating in particular places.

Or if you're really unlucky there could be a dodgy postie or worker in the sorting office.

  • I'm really surprised that Santander would not pick up £1600 worth of spending in a three day consecutive period, especially with one payment of £9000+ and one of nearly £7000?

It would show up as unusual activity and I have had my account frozen a few times when making payments to new payees that were picked up as out of my usual spending pattern, which I then had to sort out and pass security checks before Santander allowed the payments.

Hopefully there is CCTV of the person making the transactions at the tills/counter? Time, date, place etc.

Is it a top secret? It's in the electoral roll and credit files that soooo many people have access to. AFAIK the open electoral register can be bought by any person.
Not to mention my passport and DL that pass so many hands and leave so many copies behind.

It's a really poor security if it relies on a DOB as a secure information.

Yes, I guess they made an automated call to the changed telephone number asking to confirm that the transactions were genuine.
