    They had to do the entrance exams.


    They are grammar schools, some counties retain them.


    Regardless of whether you like the concept of Elitism in education, when it comes to your own kids, we all naturally want to do the best for them.


    I went to a brilliant grammar school in Bucks; 2 of my siblings went to the local secondary modern sink school. It's not a perfect system.
