Thanks again Jo. Would you happen to know roughly how many calls we would be expected to take an hour for the sales role? How many calls are you guys taking for the Customer Service roles? Just trying to get a feel of how busy it would be.

Not sure to be honest as i will be brand new to the company. Its a question i would raise with your recruiter regarding the sales role or post the customer service question on here to exisiting employees, they seem to be the most helpful source of info

My thoughts are in very general terms
Working from home isn't for everyone-You DO need to be more self reliant -even though whenever I have asked for support it has always been available- I'm a try and work it out for myself first type. It IS a steep learning curve but then most jobs in a new format are anyway and this is a new way of doing things for most people.
Well done Jo-Fab news and I wish you all the luck in the world with it......Now go out and buy yourself a pair of fluffy slippers for work LOL

  • Its a fair comment that you make there duchy. I am quite an adaptable person and work from home in another job so there is no lack of motivation or fear of learning.

The fundamental issues that I experienced is that the support is very little during the training and if your computer freezes or you are struggling to follow whats going on due to taking notes to compensate for the out of date training then you are disadvantaged and the trainer will not make special provision because they have run out of time due to being unorganised and giving you a rendition of several songs.

It is also seen more important that you can repeat to a customer their problem rather than having the skills to navigate the systems that resolve your problem. Service with a smile but carried out with the fluency of a 1 legged bicycle rider (apologies to 1 legged bicycle riders)

The super users were great and did try and help but when there were people on our course who had explicitly told recruiters "No Sundays" and then they get given their first fixed shift including a Sunday, it doesn't seem to matter what your preferences are.

Being a call centre agent and working from home should not make a difference to the customer experience or used as an excuse for the unprofessionalism and quality of the training.

I would ask recruiters and team leaders and trainers to put things in writing. If you say you cannot work a certain time, get them to confirm this in writing to you that they have understood this.

If you are desparate to work from home or need to then you may well find the strength to put up with it and not give 2 hoots about the customer but if you do not need to then approach with caution.

I so neeeed to work from home .. in my last few jobs I've got so frustrated with having an idiot for a boss, someone who thinks they know it all and doesn't listen to their workers!

Until I get my first qualification finished in Pet Care, and then get some volunteering under my belt can I then start applying for jobs that are away from home and that I actually want!:D

If you do care about the customer, surely it's worthwhile sticking with what ever problems you have and trying to get the system fixed? .. well, unless the boss is an &^%*:cool:
  • Just been thinking about the hours available through teletech ... is there anyway I can work anywhere near 35-40hrs ?? ... like a fulltime job?

It's just that I am about 4-6 weeks away from having to get another job I don't like, away from home, and if the teletech job doesn't allow me to work enough hours, and I can't find anything else to supplement the money on the net i'm going to have to go looking for something...

Please, please, please mr or mrs lovely all caring universe ... let me find something at home!:A:cool:

You have had a few jobs where all the bosses are idiots? You are either unlucky or you are just cut from the same cloth where you feel you know better and get frustrated by it. I do not want to sound offensive but I find that people with similar personalities (stubborness and being above their station)in a work environment can often cause friction.

With TT, I am led to believe that the Team Leaders and Super Users are all very nice and hopefully if you get the job, you will not have any further issues.

You cannot fix 3 weeks of poor training and when asked if I could have more time to get to a basic level of knowledge, I was told that I couldn't. The solution was simple to me but not to them. I accept that I cannot change others only myself and I did not want to change me to do this.

You are given your shifts, these are permanent. You can request a change in 12 weeks after probationary but no guarantess or commitments that you will be accommodated. You will be constantly reminded that you accepted the conditions you are put in and to go and speak to someone else.

Just very poor imo. I am used to working with companies that value people and will take time to listen. I lost count of the amount of times the trainer told people to shut up because we had to move on.

Wow how condesending can someone be !!
Funnily enough despite not being free of technical issues in training I didn't have ANY problem keeping up and nor do I neglect my customers. I've always worked in industries where customer service is the backbone of the business and have consistently being appraised as offering superior customer service-that is no different in my present job.
I suggest you look to your own shortfalls and weaknesses before trying to atribute yours to others !

Trust me when I say I've been unlucky with the jobs I've had ... everyone I've made friends with who worked for these same companies said the same things about the bosses, so I know it's not just me!;)

I do know I know better alot of times (because of the experience I have gained) but I am used to that and I let others get on with things the way they think it should be done and just wait for them to come to me for advice .... or learn from their mistakes. Sometimes of course some people just don't learn, and if I come across those people I have great joy in winding them up!:p:cool:
