A real work at home job

They don't ignore peoples' emails, your issue is with your hardware not being recognised, this in theory could be resolved by uninstalling it and then letting windows detect it again as it may be a driver related quirk. It will do no harm to your windows installation at all as windows will automatically find and reload drivers for the device as soon as it sees it.
If your drive is not recognised there is little they can do as they use a linux based cd to boot into a live VPN, if the CD drive is not recognised by the linux system you will have problems running it fullstop. Wether windows can see it or not is not the issue, it's wether the linux system can recognise it and that is why they have advised you to try removing it and letting windows pick it back up again.0 -
Thanks Paul for explaining to me what they failed to explain
That makes things clearer now. Im just a bit worried that windows wont pick it up if I do uninstall it. I might try it later, cos I have to go out soon.

Bumpity Bump
Anyone else had this problem. They emailed me back asking me to uninstall then reinstall my drive. Not something I really want to do, when I have no problems with MY pc recognising it is there. Havent heard back from them since. So looks like they are just going to ignore me now. Ahh well, I guess working with a company that ignores emails, isnt the best thing anyway.
The whole point of the pc assessment is to try to weed out those
systems that are probably not going to run the workbooth disc
correctly, I would guess if the drive is not showing in assessment list
then you can try to uninstall it and then reinstall it, remember this is
only a CD drive so you wont lose any files on your pc
failing that you might need to swap the drive is this on Desktop
or laptop by the way?0 -
I know I wont lose any files if I uninstall the CD/DVD drive. But if windows fails to pick it up when I restart (which windows tends to do at times), I will then lose my ability to play CD's or DVD's on my PC. And since I play a hell of a lot of music on my PC it wasnt really the road I wanted to go down. Anyway I may still give it a bash later.
But like I said I emailed them asking if there was any other option, and so far they have still ignored my email. So that certainly puts me off mucking around with things on my PC when they dont even have the decency to answer an email. Just makes one think that they obviously arent great on the Customer Service side of things, when they fail to answer emails sent to them.
Im using a desktop btw0 -
Sorry but if windows is failing to pick hardware back up you have problems in more ways than one. If something as basic as a CDROM/ DVD drive is not picked back up upon a reboot then there is something wrong either on the windows installation or with the hardware itself as CDROM/ DVD drives mostly use a basic windows driver.
If you go into the device manager in control panel/ system and remove the drive (right click and select the option from the context menu) then as long as there is no issue with the hardware or the windows driver installation it should be re-installed automatically as soon as windows loads back up.
Whether or not Teletech are responding to your email is is nothing to do with customer service as we are not their customers but it does point to one small niggle we have sometimes in that their administration side is slightly overwhelmed sometimes.0 -
Sorry you seem to have misinterpreted my last post. I didnt say that windows on THIS PC was failing to pick up any hardware, I merely said that it is something that windows "tends" to do at times. Fingers crossed, I have not personally experienced any problems with it detecting any hardware I have installed on this PC since I bought it, (I have probably just went and jinxed myself now) but it is commonly known that at times mickeysoft fails to detect new hardware.
You are correct in saying that we are not their customers, but I am a potential employee which makes it even more off putting, because it begs the question..................Is this how they treat their staff once employed by them? Not the type of company I would be happy to work for, if this proves to be the case.0 -
Erm believe me the people you have regular dealings with once employed are a lot easier to contact and are not as over loaded as the poor tech support people who the emails go to for this issue0

Sorry if this has been dicussed before, I have just joined this sie today and have a question about the Teletech Work From Home job.
I have completed the Workbooth Assessment and it gave me a message back saying my Computer had FAILED th assessment and I needed a wireless router. I'm going to buy one tomorrow, but can someone please tell me, will this definitely correct any problems and assure that my PC will be able to allow me to work from home? And I found a DSL Wireless Router for 30GBP, is it ok to buy this even if it's so cheap or does it have to be a more expensive router?
Thanks in advance for any replies.0 -
Router type will depend on what broadband supplier you are with, as to whether it will guarantee compatibility it does often resolve a lot of issues faced by people on certain providers.
Cost of router is dependant on model, cheap routers can do a job just as well as expensive ones as long as they are the correct type and have all the specs that you require.0 -
