Though it's always interesting to stay at a place that's fresh and new so good luck with the Doubletree if you go for it!
right - well have booked that one and it is the doubletree (although unnerved me as it comes up as park inn formerly bonnington and then says it doesnt exist!)
the reviews since the takeover look good - so fingers crossed - will update!
thanks again for your help0 -

Looks to be the Richmond Hill hotel, though there's a small chance it could also be the Richmond Gate hotel, which is virtually next door.0 -
Hi P-E-P, you gave me some advice a week or so ago re hotels and I decided to wait but have started to look again and am overwhelmed - would appreciate your thoughts!
I am looking for the best hotel I can get for about £100pn (would love to go cheaper but am also prepared to go slightly higher for really good deal) for the 18th and 19th of March for my husband and I. I would prefer it to be modern and central, (I will be visiting oxford street, covent garden, the Tate modern , the usual places ) I realise 5* might be pushing it so looking at great 4*.
Any advice welcome and thank you in advance0 -

Hotels in town don't look like they're going to be selling out, so wait a few more days is my advice. I think we'll see prices come down a little. Also, lastminute is playing up for me again so I can't search effectively.
Dolphin House Apartments are decent enough, spacious and fairly centrally located though a little walk from the tube. The decor is kind of basic 4* hotel standard, probably most good 4* hotels in London will feel a bit more luxurious.0 -
small update on the doubletree in bloomsbury - i would say dont do it - certainly not through secret rooms - it has been quite a palava to get a reasonable room - very few seem to have been upgraded and the details that last minute give in the facilities do not match the offering
the staff are rather lovely and it might be good when the work is done - absolutely not refurbished yet as stated by last minute
a very far cry from 'luxury'0 -

Oh dear, at least it's a warning to others. I was under the impression from the LM description as well as recent reviews that the refurb was close to being done and dusted. Might be worth a little complaint to lastminute.0
