People just pay too much for phones in the first place. A triumph of marketing over common sense.

Found out that BBC iPlayer Radio app for one, cannot be configured to use the SD card on Android to store those huge downloads for offline listening. Eg a 6 Music Programme at 400 MB. My Huawei has 4 GB internal storage and I already get Memory Full. Would need to root the phone to solve it.
Therefore a 2 GB internal memory is going to be very limiting indeed even for kids or as a backup phone.
Thats a general android issue and therefore doesn't belong in this thread. The ultra 6 is a fantastic phone0 -
I think you have to compare like with like, this being supplied by a UK retailer, not importing from China with the potential extra tax/handling charge on top.NiftyDigits wrote: »Not really.
Standard price for this kind of model in China, eighteen months ago.
Example: K Touch Nibiru Mars One H1 from March 2014 £102 back then. Much the same spec at the Smart Ultra 6
Same with now well known names such as Huawei Honor 3X Pro. Available for £85, perhaps less.
The Smart Ultra 6 is similar to these eighteen month old phones, but with Android 5.0 installed.
People just pay too much for phones in the first place. A triumph of marketing over common sense.
It always takes time for processors to come through, the 615 used in the smart ultra 6 was introduced 2 months before the top end 808 and 810 and is a current processor.0 -
Great phone if you're prepared to live with Android. Makes Android phones more than £100 essentially pointless.0

Sold by a UK retailer or not, it is still from a Chinese supplier. The 615 was introduced in February 2014.
No argument that the phone is good value as compared to the ridiculous prices that people pay here for a similar spec.0 -

Will these Androids get updated to Android 6 (Marshmallow) anytime soon?
The Nexus 5 (old model) has already been updated0 -
