I got my "invitation" to transition to PIP and made the appropriate calls yesterday.

The woman on the phone asked who is best to discuss my condition but I don't know! I used to see a myriad of health professionals but now only see a cardiologist who only recently started at the hospital after the professor retired.

My DLA file has letters from the professionals from last year so I've asked to get the file and they said they'd transfer it into the pip file - will I get a copy of this?

My GP doesn't really see me except to issue repeat prescriptions.

Medically no one really knows exactly what's wrong with me, I get new symptoms so get referred, get lots of tests, get normal or "not the right type of abnormal" results, get a prescription, get discharged, rinse and repeat.

I'm going to ask my cardiologist for a letter but can't think what else to include in the file. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you have to attend a medical in person face-to-face or is this a phone medical?

I've not had a medical yet, it was the initial phone application that I've done, not even filled the form in yet
  • Not sure what evidence you could send but getting help to fill in the form would be a good start.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

Evidence can be anything from a letter from someone that knows you well to a diary written by yourself. If you have adaptions at home take photos and include these in your diary. They mostly don't contact any medical proffession their self, so i wouldn't risk leaving it to them. PIP is all about how your condition affects your daily life so any evidence to do with this is good. Good luck.

Well the form was returned at the start of December and I got a text message to confirm receipt which was good.

At the end of last week I got an appointment to see a health professional next week, the appointment didn't suit (clashed with a hospital appointment) so I called and had it changed.

I'm not really sure what to expect from the medical as visibly I look fine but have to use a wheelchair and need a lot of support with complex medical conditions so I'm taking my mum with me.

Hi GlasweJen. I know I'm not right popular now and most likely in your bad books but I advise you to go over to YourAble forum and talk to Flymo.

Flymo is the expert on all things PIP.

Just don't say Controversy sent you over lol.

I know Flymo as I use a different user name on your able. I'm not particularly worried about the outcome as I can always appeal and won every DLA appeal I ever put together when I worked for citizens advice, I never had to appeal any of my own claims - furthest I ever got was a reconsideration and they overturned their decision pretty much on the phone
  • Pip is very difficult to get completely different from Dla!
Best to do research and lots of before putting pen to paper
Pain has no factor in Pip
    Good luck xx

PIP is all about how your condition/s affect you in daily life. I suffer with pain all the time and i claim PIP BUT my pain affects my ability to do everyday tasks. Walking, washing, cooking etc etc

I don't suffer from pain at all, well I do but it's not part of my claim.

I'm claiming on the grounds that I need care assistance and can't walk due to paraplegia secondary to transplant complications, myasthenia gravis, blackouts without warning, chronic fatigue syndrome and constant diploplia
