Flight Cancelled twice CityJet (Booked on LastMinute)

Ok, so although this thread was about CityJet, I did book a flight with EasyJet as well for the day after the CityJet flight was cancelled. What happened was, the flight was cancelled and they didn't notify me whatsoever, nothing, I only found out cause I went to a flight tracker website, I had to buy trains and eurostar in that minute, otherwise I could risk losing my job... I sent them the bill for the trains and eurostar and asked for a ticket refund.
Just got an e-mail back from EasyJet and they told me this:
"Dear Mr Teixeira,
I am very sorry for the inconvenience that has been caused following the cancellation of your flight to London Gatwick on the 2nd of November.
I would like to reassure you that this kind of situation is exceptional, since easyJet does everything possible to meet the expectations and needs of our passengers. Whenever there is a cancellation of a flight, we understand that this causes disappointment but the safety of our customers is our primary concern.
Having reviewed the details of your flight EZY 8962, I can confirm that the reason for the cancellation was low visibility due to weather conditions. This event would be classified as “extraordinary” under EC Regulation 261/2004. In this situation there is no compensation payable, as the circumstances which led to the flight cancellation were outside our control. We have provided a document on our website entitled ‘Notice of Rights’, which clarifies the policy surrounding EU Compensation.
More information is available on our website:
We hope that your future experience of travelling with us will demonstrate our commitment to serving our passengers.
Yours sincerely"
This is absolute !!!!!!!! because they did not warn me AT ALL, I don't care that it's low visibility (the fog situation) the thing is the airline didn't notify me whatsoever, the only reason I found out it was cancelled was because I went to a flighttracker website. If I was to go to the airport not knowing better I'd have stayed grounded in France one more day, risking losing my job. So as soon as I saw it was cancelled I had to buy trains and eurostar to get back, I presented that as a bill that I wanted to be refunded.
Is there anything I can do against these people?0 -

Maybe your travel insurance will cover your excess alternate transport costs?0 -
You should be refunded the cost of both flights - which were cancelled due to the poor weather. Whilst all this is inconvenient, but not easyJet's fault. From what you have described, I don't believe you are due any other compensation.0

I don't even care about the alternative route I had to take. They're saying I'm not eligible to any refund... How can they refuse the ticket refund? I'm not even after the european compensation...
I can and should request the ticket refund right?0 -

Yes, I think the confusion is that the email talks about a compensation claim under the Regs, but that's not what you are seeking - you just want a refund for the cancelled ticket. Contact them again and be clear on what you are asking.0 -

The wording of the reply implies that you have asked them for compensation under EU261. Did you ask them for a refund of the unused ticket or did you ask them for compensation under EU261?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Yes I did because that was the only refund form they had on their website.0

Yes you did what? Ask for compensation?
You need to talk to a proper person and explain that you want a refund for an unused ticket for a flight cancelled by them due to fog, make it clear that you are not asking for compensation under EU261.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Ok, so I called Bravo Fly and explained the whole situation, CityJet cancelled the return flight and the alternative they provided as well, so 2 cancellations in a row and that I wanted the money back for the TICKET. The person I talked to said he was inputting a request to the airline company and I'd receive an e-mail when they got back to them. This is what I received today.
"Dear Pedro Teixeira,
Further to your request, we regret to inform you that the airline, in accordance with their terms and conditions, will not provide any modification free of charge or refund for the schedule change made to your booking.
We have therefore confirmed the former flight schedule, according to our previous message.
Please accept our apologies on behalf of the airline for any inconvenience this might have caused.
Best regards,
