  • ok , can you answer the second part of my question , as your answers are making it look like many many thousands of housing assoc tenents could have there sorn cars removed from their paved gardens ,

and to expand this further anyone with a mortgage does not "own" the land ,

not arguing , its just that the statement in post 7 , is very broad

It doesn't mention private homes and I did think about them as the property could be leasehold and they'd never own the land.

It also doesn't mention the gardens of housing association homes or drives so I guess they be classed as the same. I guess what it covers is their comunial car parks and parking bays. I would suggest that under the legislation yours is a comunial bay with allocated one space.

But if you play by the rules you've nothing to worry about.

mine is NOT a communal bay , there are no communal parkings on the estate , just street parking + plus several houses (I do not know if private or rented) that have had driveways installed

this is why I am trying to define "Parking bay provided for housing association homes"

the reason for the private parking Co use is that when the previous owner stopped using her car , someone else started working on wrecks at the location , and the police/dvla were not interested in removing them , so the PPC method was used (clamping/towing days )

Maybe I misunderstood. You're either parking within the grounds of your home then it's a driver or you're not then it's a parking space. Can you confirm which?

    Hi All,

For the last week there has been 2 cars that are not legal parked just outside my house. One of the cars has not had an MOT since 2011!

I have reported them to the DVLA via the online forms but wanted to know what else I can do to get them removed?

Parking is limited where whe live at the best of times so not having access to these 2 spaces is causing issues.

    Many thanks

Happened to me too. I feel your pain

Public place so sorn rules would apply. I don't see an issue unless you're intent of breaking them.
  • ok , thanks , please edit your post above and I will remove my google link

    thanks

Yes, as it's not owned by the vehicle owner therefore not a private place under the legislation.

So if you park and sorn YOUR car on MY driveway are you saying the DVLA can clamp it?!
  • which then brings the problem of buying a vehicle with a missing V5 , and awaiting the 6 weeks till a new one is sent , and you can get the vehicle in your own name and tax or sorn it ,

I could understand the common sence saying that you cannot park it on aldi,s carpark , however there are millions of rented houses about with driveways
