the reason for asking if it was his own house , is that some comments on here state that a non taxed car can only be stored on YOUR own property , however when asked if this included rented/housing assoc or even a house that was on a mortgage , no answer was given , or at least not one that resulted in the "own property" being edited0 -

For a SORN to be valid, the requirement is that the vehicle is not used or kept on a public road. As long as it is not on a public road, the owner of the property is irrelevant.
The registered keeper of an unlicensed vehicle commits the offence wherever the vehicle is located, but it cannot be clamped or removed if the location is as mentioned in post 24.0
