Happy birthday Bob - hope you're enjoying your day. I'm currently exhausted at gymnastics just watching dd but very smug that I made lunch at home today rather than the cafe. Fiver saved... Plus I've escalated my complaint with Natwest to FOS. Fingers crossedNot giving up

Hello Frugal Friends,
Just got home from city centre trip & been sitting with a coffee enjoying reading all your posts. Glad the job was a good experience DNMS. And CCL - Since becoming debt free on 2011, we have been able to manage on 1 income so I took VR in the 2nd round of cuts at work. I've carried on with all the MSE stuff I did while we were debt busting but started regular savings into an emergency fund & also started savings piggies. It's a fab feeling when 1000s of £££s of debt has finally gone, isn't it?!
Today's things:
*Made quick packed lunch to take with us so as to avoid buying lunch out.
*Free coffees & scones in John Lewis using loyalty vouchers (saving of over £9)
*mr f decided he needed a further caffeine top-up before driving home so had a free coffee from Waitrose too.
*Bought 'Monsoon' trousers. Planned spending, used cash from Clothes Piggy so no effect on bank account.Using the £10 on my reward card took a chunk off the bill, too.
*Bought a Christmas gift. Used cash from Presents Piggy.
*Updated presents planned. Hilighted everything still to buy in pink & everything still to do in green. Was amazed to find we only need to buy 1 giftcard & 3 very small edible items. The 'to do'things are stuff like baking a cake for a gift, straining & bottling my berry gin, gifts to knit, etc, so plenty to do, but nice bakey or crafty things.
*Resisted Mr f's attempts to tempt me into buying a top. Yes it was nice, Yes I liked it, but I'd already bought the trousers. Will consider putting it on my Christmas list. The old me would have had trousers, top, prob new boots too, cruised the Clinique counters looking for 'Bonus time' as well as having breakfast & lunch out before hitting M&D food hall to impulse buy a bag full of expensive calories for the weekend!!
*mr f is doing surveys. Cat is on fridge watch & I'm now going to knit more of my Dad's jumper.
Have a nice evening all,

Evening

I am tired, and I still can't get over seeing that little badge when I log on here. I am starting to feel more happy about it but today has been very much business as usual. It's a tight, tight run in to Christmas and I can't afford to forget the work I've done so far.
Happy birthday to you Bob - hope it's been a lovely day for you.
Thanks for the traffic light rice recipe too legomum - sounds yummy.
I don't know why I ever suggest an afternoon nap - it never happens :rotfl:crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
