My mind is busy thinking about money as always. Wondering what to do next - I hadn't made a plan for being debt free because I never saw it actually arriving. I still have a few weeks to put a plan together but my brain wants to get on immediately.

That is a huge amount you've paid off! Wow.
I had a similar problem. We decided to save for a holiday and to enjoy ourselves for a bit. Then we'll save for more reponsible things. After 8 years of austerity we thought we deserved it. We haven't quite decided what those responsible things will be yet. :o But we have been practising spending our new entertainment budget responsibly.

  • Morning folks!

Thanks to ccl for starting us off - this is the first day of your debt free life! :)

Sounds like everyone has a good plan for the day.

Last night was relatively cheap. Spent £16.40, found free parking :) unfortunately OH seems to have mislaid a fiver *sigh*

Also discovered, upon switching on the pc to write this, that it send the electricity smart meter into orange! So I won't be leaving it on all day to check for updates!

    Today's list:
    • Go into next village to put some cash into bank, drop stuff at cs, pick up cheapo washing oxy bleach stuff and possibly a new box with a lid for storing my jam jars in. Currently in a lidless box and they get dusty and spidery
    • B/L from stores. I have everything for a fry up :j
    • Dinner out at a friend's house with OH and two other colleagues (actually my boss, but he's more like the dad of the office :) ). Should really make something to take with us as a thank you.
    • Heating off
    • Housework! Lots to be done, but my new vacuum cleaner part came. The sight of a large parcel got everyone at work very excited. They were most disappointed when they found what was in the box!
    • Make Christmas cakes
Right, we need to leave here at about 4! I better get a move on!

    Have a good one all

    Hello,

    Saturday! Hurrah!

Enjoying a cooked breakfast before a day of leisure.

    Debt-Free Nillionaire Month 5:

    * Tonight we're going to a pro ice-hockey match at Braehead Arena to see Glasgow Braehead Clan v Coventry Blaze. 45p back on Quidco and we've budgetted for a light meal out beforehand. Will take in own drinks and snacks. Will not buy anything else while there.

    * OH needs a new bra so we'll get one on the way to the match. Probably going to need to go to M&S to get one that fits. Will not buy nice, shiny things in M&S Foodhall.

    * Hope for a last i-Say survey to claim a £10 voucher.

    Have a good day everyone.

So - this weekend's adventures consist of:-

    Proactive MSE-ing
    • Review food in cupboards, freezer and fridge and sort meal plan for week. Then make up shop list for basics & go out for these (shopping probably tomorrow)
    Winter prep
    • Dig out rucksacks for car bags - must do this
    Christmas prep
    • Still working on ideas for aunt's Christmas
    • Have a look at Argos offer & nectar points available - can I get 3 games as Christmas pressies for free???
    Round tuits
    • Put hook on back of bedroom door for dressing gown - we've only had the hook in the house for several years :o
    • Empty trolley in garage so that when rain stops I can move new logs to woodstore
    • The unloved sock drawer may be brought out tonight and socks mated with their partners - sounds like a nice job to do in front of the fire
    • Set up OWL to monitor electricity usage - thanks clf
    • Run to charity shop required with items liberated courtesy of Mins game
Good habit forming (28 days to set a habit into daily routine or something like that - I'm going for 1 a week)
    • Post on here once a day 13/28
    • Get up at 6 am on work days 6/28 - not a work day - but still counted
    Happy cheapness and freeness
    • Watch more of series 4 of "The Walking Dead" -
Painful - but gotta be done
    • Check banks
    Mins game - 27/465
    • A couple of things in the garden need to be taken to the coup - so will be looking at this today - and any easy roadkill from the garage
That will keep me going for a bit - have a good weekend y'all and be careful out there

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi Gang

So today so far. Has been wild. The weather anyway. It's also my birthday. 37 years young today ;)

Went down to the shops as I needed a few items. Whilst there I took back a mop head that I'd bought that didn't fit the handle. The customer services person had just finished telling me that she couldn't take it back as the pack was now open. So I was a bit miffed but understand it isn't her policy but Mr S. So then she decided to go the other way and agreed a refund. Well the other one was more expensive but some how I got a 2p refund instead of having to pay extra. I was so baffled as to what was going on that I just took the good fortune and left! So that saved me around £4.

We've just had lunch at home. Using up a pack of salami some cheese ends and the last of some salad bits.

My Mum had sent a cheque for myself and son who has his birthday this coming week so I popped that into a paying in envelope and posted it.

2 loads of washing done although tumble is in use as weather is so bad and it is all bedding. Dishwasher load done just need to empty.

Booked appointment for OH to attend son's parent evening next week.

    That's it I think :)

Hope no one gets blown away today!

    Bob
