We've had that happen to us carbootcrazy, a child brought one to the door asking if this was our kitten, when I said no she asked if we could look after it until the owners were found, we had him about 12 years.
I found a 6 or 7 day old kitten abandoned on our back garden one day, brought her in, rang the RSPCA who said they couldn't take her until she was weaned, by that time it was Christmas and I didn't want her going to someone who didn't know a cat is for life, she was 7 when she died.
We're going to have to be wary of well meaning friends too, I've lost count of the kittens we've been offered over the years, at one time we had 4 cats just because I couldn't bear the thought of what could happen if we didn't take them!

I'm aware I haven't been here (or saving!) for a good few months... unfortunately I've been unwell but slowly starting to recover, so I am back and hoping to start saving again. :)

Sue, could you add a target goal of £500, please? And congratulations on your 44th wedding anniversary! :D

I hope everyone's been doing well. I've just moved back to my mum's as my sickness resulted in me becoming unemployed, and I haven't yet unpacked. Long story short, I have three pots (one with at least £45 in from last year that I've not banked yet) and they're all in various boxes that I can't get at... I really can't justify buying a fourth!

Hello there, Selene! :hello: A very warm welcome back!! It's really lovely to see you back with us again, though I'm so very sorry to hear you've been so poorly. Very wise to move back with your Mum though. :grinheartTake GREAT CARE of yourself and come on the thread just as often as you like, it's always a joy to see folk. BTW. Your No is 483 and if you could pop it on your signature I'd so appreciate it. To put it on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away. ;) Just be sure to "save signature" below the box! PS. I've already added the £45 you'd saved, very well done!!!!! :j:T:j

VERY MANY THANKS everyone for your lovely wishes! :grinheartWe had a wonderful evening with the family, it couldn't have been better and DH & I thoroughly enjoyed it all!
So Lucy, does it really seem 4 years ago that you and your DH along with me and mine were celebrating our Ruby Weddings in the same year!!!!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your dear cat, what a good age though! A sensible decision from here on though as i is difficult.

Very happy that I've just added £6 to my pot - this is from my pocket money and whereas before I would have just kept it in my purse and spent it - I have added it to my pot and its now safely away for xmas 2016.

It's a delight to read posts such as yours, plumduff!! So good to hear folk so happy with their saving!! :j

Well done, muppets, far better to scoop it up, if you don't know who's it is!
£4.20 potted today - sweet! Got 2 x £2 coins after a grocery run so I'm very pleased. Also told my colleagues at work that I'll swap their £2 coins so save them for me :-)

I really love to read all the posts on here, it keeps me motivated.

Brilliant work, NeedToBeDebtFree, and I'm so pleased you gain so much from reading the posts of others - just as they're motivated by reading yours!! :j

ooooooh haven't you done well, Val...

    .....You 'n all, 32b3!

Better potted than possibly spent, Chutney! ;)

£3.00 potted for me today. I'm actually enjoying not spending money, using up food I already have at home. Got to get some food shopping tomorrow so I have searched the Internet for coupons. Any money left in purse will be potted tomorrow :-)

oooooooh, Tizzi, doesn't it do your heart goodto concentrate on using what you've already got, and saving that cash as a result. Good work with the coupons too!

Ahhhh, you're too kind, Modesty. Now, look what you've done..:o

I have an annoying non-productive cough and the sniffles. Currently wearing some V*ck which seems to ease the cough :)

Trunking is when you do a regular HGV 1 run, usually between two depots. My DH is on a night run from Dunfermline to Newcastle with a load, waits for a load to come up from Leeds and returns that load to Dunfermline, and at least it's good money as on night-rates and three hours a night o/t. He's phoned that he's in Newcastle so fingers xd no more snow tonight :)
    Lx

If it's doing you good, Lynne, then keep the V!cks going. :) Age-old things are the best...just like me!! :rotfl: Ah, I'm glad you've told me what the trunking bit stands for as I'd honestly thought it was a typo, or......plain filth!!! :rotfl: Sounds like a good job. Thanks for your words. :D

Awww...I could almost picture her little face, jakes-mum,she is going to be so much a mini you in a few years time - if not before!! :DGood luck with that cake, but I have faith in you just as she does! :rotfl:

It's mounting up fast, Frugalgurl!!!! :j

It's good to see you, getting-there-slowly, and lovely to know you're doing well, keep at it!! :D
*Hugs* to anyone that is poorly....*Special Hugs* to Sue's Daughter...hope she is doing well hun....and Congratulations to you and your OH on your Wedding Anniversary...that's AWESOME!! :)

Still feeling a bit rough emotionally....I think I feel a bit worn out today but I will be fine....I'm Working from home for most of this Weekend....although might get out to the Gym at some point....which I know will get those endorphins going and I think will cheer me up :)

I Potted 2 x 50p's in the early hours of this morning....So I'm feeling good about that.... xXx :)

Good potting, Helen! :D I couldn't agree more with keeping exercising at the gym to help those endorphins do you the world of good. Go for it! Thanks for your thoughts: sadly DD's relapsed again and not too good at all, especially with her legs, but we all do the best we can to help lift her spirits. :)

Well done, frasersmum, and I hope your DS had a good time with his friends.

So long as you haven't forgotten your pot, 12 month challenge. ;) What some bloomin weather! :(

It sounds as though you've mad a great start, MrsC....tobe! Keep up that great work! :D

Not an easy month I know, tatabubbly, but at least DH's with you.

My words to you are at the top, Lucy. So sorry though, and a sad day.
Enjoy this very rainy of Saturdays, Potters. At least you can, all, have a relaxing evening. :grinheart Just never lose sight of your pots!!

  • Afternoon all you lovely lot :)

Changed a lot of the kids change from their money boxes this afternoon, they've still got lots left to change.

Managed to put a load in my 20p pot, £2 in my terramundi pot (after persuading DD to change for 2x£1!) £2 in 50p's in my other pot and a lot in the demi-john.

Will change the rest next month, so that I can put their notes in to their bank accounts.

    Hope everyone is okay?

After never finding roadkill, today was my day.

I thought I saw a 10p coin in the gutter as I crossed the road, then I saw a 5p on the pavement. Once the cars had passed I looked in the road and it was a 10p coin, and there was a 2p coin on the pavement as well.

When I added the 17p to my holding purse it made a pound so I added a pound to my sealed pot.

  • Another lot of coins to pot today = £3.00. Was hoping to have some cash from selling some knitted socks, hats and scarves but no joy (I sell them at a local gift shop) but it's probably not cold enough yet! My tin is started to get a lovely 'thud' sound when I drop the coins in now - very satisfying :D

Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend despite the rainy grey weather! Happy belated wedding anniversary Sue-UU :)
