MAC addresses are a giveaway !!

    Have a look at this:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_spoofing

I thought this bit was interesting:
In June 2014, Apple announced that future version of their iOS platform would randomize MAC addresses for all WiFi connections, making it more difficult for internet service providers to track user activities and identities...

There's also some information of MAC spoofing when using TAILS (the live OS Tor bundle) here:
    https://tails.boum.org/contribute/design/MAC_address/

And here's how you can spoof your MAC address on Windows, Linux and Mac:

For those that say "Doesn't bother me, I've nothing to hide"
I leave you with the famous quote by Cardinal Richelieu :
If you give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest of men, I will find something in them which will hang him.

doesn't matter if you've done nothing wrong, their is always a way to make you look guilty of something, if they look hard enough.

Could be something as simple as :

    a) Visiting an electronic component website.
    b) Calling a DIY garden wholesaler.
    c) Looking at a cheap flights to a major tourist location.

That "Meta Data" could be innocent enough you could be :
    a) looking for a replacement battery for your phone
    b) Thinking of paving the garden and redoing the back garden.
    c) Thinking of taking a surprise visit to a relative.

Or just the right "flags" to the security services to take an interest in your activities who think you might be :

    a) Looking for components for a timer
    b) seeing how much a few bags of fertilizer costs
    c) place where their is a lot of people...

    Please!

If that's how the security services worked they'd never catch any real villains.

    This is totally wrong.
But they are already spying on us by using TEMPORA and PRISM.

I think VPN will help in this case as IPs are given by our ISPs , before browsing just connect to VPN and then start browsing, that VPN IP is not linked to your home address. It could log in from Germany.
Will it flag on their screens ?
Plus how will ISPs know if we changed our IP using VPNs. ?

lets see what data is readily available already

    1) I work in London, drive in London , you cannot move anywhere without you being spotted on a camera. I have an Oyster card that tells them where I have travelled on a tube and when

    2) Everytime I shop in Tesco they know how much I spent and where if I scan my clubcard

    3) Everytime I use a debit or credit card they know where and how much

    4) Experian know how much my bills are , if they are paid on time , what credit cards/loans I have and who my mobile phone is with.

    5) each time I use my mobile phone it is logging where I am at all times and who I call or calls me

I'm not really bothered if someone knows what I look at on Amazon/Ebay or how long I spend on ebay
