Free transport from your house is already available. It's called an ambulance. Perhaps you think the sick & dying should pay for that too?
Do you have any idea how much that costs?
An ambulance is for people in critical conditions, not because they need to go to outpatients or even because they've broken a bone!0

Which clearly cancelling charges so they have more money and therefore are better off and able to spend it on their wellbeing does!0

Let alone the stress of dealing with these parasites in the first place.0

Actually voice of experience, since I work for a trust and work closely with the exec team.
The colleagues who get the most charge notices are consultants (and not just the most per 100 or the most by %, I mean the single highest category - which is also one of the lowest total number employed - is consultants.
 No envy at all.
And the other bit - The highest paid people are consultants and clinical leads, who are also the worst for parking. Often taking up spaces of others and refusing to pay.
Are you saying that the Trust lets off the consultants and not others? If so, what is the union doing about it?
 Stand by my previous assertions.0

I didn't say that. In fact I believe anyone who appeals will get let off with a series of warnings.
I am saying that the highest paid are often the most difficult to convince that parking is a privelege and not a right.
As for your assertion that this is envy - it simply isn't. I can't really prove a negative.
As for unions, I'm not involved in that.
What I do know is the consultants are the minority of employees with the most charges. And a common line is 'well if I can't park, I can't run my clinic', whether they then pay or appeal isn't information I have access to - it's private.0

 Precisely!
So writing "and refusing to pay" is without foundation as I suggested earlier.
What I will agree with you on is that my experience of some consultants is that they are arrogant and high handed and that the fact that they are not able to park is a considerable irritation to them fulfilling their tasks.0

We get a little diverted trying to detect cancer, improving health and generally trying to stop people dying.Illegitimi non carborundum:)0

Seems reasonable to me. Is the NHS Trust in the business of providing car parking or health services? The Trust should provide sufficient car parking for all their employees
In theory I agree. But due to govt regulations it's 3 years since a multi storey option was suggested and it's just now being put forward for planning permission.
This is down to the tendering guidelines. I agree we should get the most for each NHS £, but the delays in the project mean the problem will continue.
The trust employs 5,000 people, across multiple sites. You can't guarantee a spot for everyone on each site.
Just like you can't have a bed for each person in the area.0
