I'm a man, I don't have a bag and the only thing ever in my pockets are keys and wallet :)

    You need a man-bag:

Just turn the bag outside in and hey presto, no advertising

If you do that, won't everything fall out?

    I'd echo the above.

The 5p charge is for single use plastic bags, as per the law. Although I think this is being flouted in some places (I've heard of people charging for paper bags), the inference would be that if you pay 5p for a plastic bag that you didn't use to have to pay 5p for, it's only fit for one use.

Now this would be different if it was advertised as multiple use, however. I expect most places will replace a bag that has split and was advertised as multiple use, so worth asking. For the sake of 5p though, if they say no, I'd just walk away and not pursue any further.
For the sake of 5p I wouldn't ask!

    Not very MSE ;)

I would absolutely ask in the case of a bag for life as it's standard practice to replace, I wouldn't for one of the cheaper disposable ones though.
  • scotland have had this since last october, Asda charge 6p for a bag for life so no matter if the handle comes off, it bursts or any other fault they replace it free of charge.

Re-usable bags from Tesco? I'd be happy if they was strong enough to at least make it to the car - let alone use again at home!
