See Santa @ Harrods

  • Do you have to get tickets now? I remember when I was younger we'd go up to London every Christmas to see the lights and see Santa at Selfridges or Harrods (we'd alternate) and standing in v long queues for hours and hours winding our way through the grotto! It wouldn't be the same without the ridiculously long wait... It's all about instant gratification these days... God I sound like a grumpy old woman
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

As far as i now its ticket only, but that would prob cause alot of arguments, where people who didnt know about the ticket system, turned up instore as they normally did

perhaps there is a different line for non-ticket holders, or the ticket holders use a fast past type system?

Can you please suss out if it's possible to see Santa with no tickets.

I live in Staffordshire but have a weekend in London booked for 30th November but cannot get tickets!!!

I have 2 boys aged 5 and 6 who would love to visit him if possible.

    Please check if you can.

  • We went to Harrods Xmas Grotto today - what a disappointment!!!

My daughter did not enjoy it - it was not christmassy, but rather a fairytale about Sleeping Beauty. She got a paperback sticker book of Sleeping Beauty and also a badge but overall a disappointment!!!

We were at 10am and there was no queue - but it was a waste of time going.

I know some of you may say "its free so I cant complain" - well yes it is free, but other places have free grottos (eg Watford as per my earlier post) and they have a nice grotto that is christmassy etc. I spent a lot of money on the train to get us to London. Harrods (a luxury shop) - you would expect an excellent grotto.

The nice thing was Santa - he really did look like Santa and was chatty.

They try to get u to buy the pictures, which cost £10 for you child and santa or £25 for a family pic with Santa which is where they make there money

We went today and I must admit I too was a bit disappointed. I would have liked a grotto with elves and toy making activity. We did have to queue for 30 minutes or so but not too bad. Santa was very nice and chatty I agree and we were pleased with the photo. My boys were convinced with Santa and pleased to take their lists to him personally and my little one is enjoying the sticker book. The day cost us about £100 with train fairs and incidental costs like food and drink. We had a lovely day all in all saw a bit of London. Don't think I'd go again next year though.
