Action Fraud, they sent a letter and there is crime reference in it.

    Which police area?

The way your gong nothing's going to be done for the next 28 days.
  • thames valley police
  • And do you know the officer who's dealing with it in Thames Valley?
Have you given a statement yet or arranged to do so?
Have they now got copies of your bank transactions showing the offenders account details? It will save time on DPA requests.
  • Sorry, i called them up they saying i can only report this to Action Fraud?

    Ok, I get it now.

    The facts are.
You haven't got a crime number.
You won't know if it's gong to be dealt with by who or if at all for 28 days.
Thames Valley Police have fobbed you off and failed to record the crime.
Nothing will be progressed until the crime actually reaches the police.

    Good luck with this one.

Unlikely to be a criminal opening accounts, why would they bother when they can find some gullible fool to do their "payment processing" for them and forward the money via western union or similar. So it's a genuine bank account owned with real ID.

It's more likely to be a stolen account - either cloning or fraud, so it's not registered with anyone in on it. The money is then laundered away from there to the fraudsters account, probably via a series of online sales or western union or something.

Who would buy an £11K car they have never seen from a complete stranger and which is abroad? I mean come on, no sane person would do it. I don't know what rockall81's agenda is but he is wasting everyone's time here (just like DM if he isn't actually DM!)

rockall81 does seem a bit financially inept though judging by other posts he has started:

Don't waste your time on this attention seeking idiot.

So why did you buy a car you have never even seen for so much money, from a person you don't know, in the hope that one day it might turn up via a shipping company without too much damage in transit? Are you normal because in my wildest dreams, I just cannot concieve of anyone ever doing this?

Well, sometimes someone can fool you very easily. In this case i was given the number, called many times, given email address. given address etc.. shown the pictures of the car etc.

I am a risk taker, i take risks, i never taken reckless risks, this one turned out be bit too much.

Also trust people around me, i think they are the way i am, i.e trustworthy. Unfortunately not always.

I think this conversation should be more around what can be done now rather than what happened?

    then its helpful and meaningful.
