It was great, so good to see them, had lots to catch up with and talk about. Laughed my socks off.
Unfortunately, today was spent decluttering. I REALLY NEED to get rid of more stuff. My poor mother hates Sundays - the designated decluttering day as it always leaves me exhausted and sad - true, but I can't do it during the week and on Saturdays my Sister and her bf come round so making a mess decluttering isn't an option.
However this fact has not gone unnoticed to Mum, who also would like to get things done on Saturday so we could have Sunday "off"
I need a clear day to take items to the charity and re organise what is left and then do another run later on or next day. Doing it Sunday means I leave loads unfinished. And that irritates me.
So the upshot is she is going to ask my sister not to come over next Saturday. I feel a bit bad but honest to God, if I don't finish this crap soon I will lose my mind!
In case anyone is wonderingI am going through everything I own. Over Summer it was the shed of doom (6 loads to the tip) and some of the spare room. The overspill from the shed went to the Conservatory (of Doom) and once the rabbits moved into my room (which I am hating less but still dislike) more stuff went to the conservatory.
This weekend I went through my memories and photos. A sorry collection of days out and not enough foreign trips....anyhow.... they now reside under the bed in neat rabbit proof boxes! The pet stuff has been reorganised and much of what has been left is recycling or binnable.
I need to do books next weekend and re do clothes. Plus clean and tidy the conservatory.
In half term I will be selling a lot from the shed. And then in the Easter holidays it will be shed and garden.
Sell everything I can, give away everything I can and then embrace minimalism and an easy cleaning routine.
On the whole I feel fairly settled. Work is a big stresser. I just checked my e mails! Forgot something on Friday but it is not important - didn't stop a horrible flush going through me.
My aim is to keep things simple. Very simple. And remember I can leave at any point.

I did the whole MarieKondo thingy (or so I thought) last year but having set myself a deadline to get the house ready to go on the market has given me a new perspective on the stuff I've kept......We will be downsizing....so if it's stuffed the loft of garage now because there's no room in the house then there certainly won't be in the new house."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. I KNOW! I am trying to have less stuff, so to make it easier to move out or just generally make it easier to live here. And I did the shed over summer (I may have mentioned it) Went out there yesterday and thought Crikey why have kept this crap! Really need to get rid of more.

I don't envy you for the clearout. I don't think I'd start now the bloody nightmare it has been. I never want to own anything
Watching the Terry Wogan special on BBC 1. making me cry! I loved him. Didn't really think I did but made me sad yesterday.

I've cleared out loads in the past week. Unfortunately it was in the process of moving my mum into her new bungalow. My house looks really bad in comparison, especially as I moved some stuff from the shed at my old house, prior to completion day on 8th January.
I intend making kitchen shelves and a back gate from DS1's old bed (lovely chunks of wood for shelves, bed slats to make the gate) but at the moment it is hanging around in odd corners as I do not have a shed here - only a small yard.
I will make it a priority this year but as usual other people's needs are taking precedence over my own (I am talking to a counsellor about it - felt that I was 'okay but could be an awful lot better' and sought help).
I have heard others say that the Kondoing is a continuous process. once you have gone through once, you begin to look afresh at your remaining possessions and see that some of those can go too.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
