Hey, Anna, glad you're enjoying the sunshine. Have you/would you consider broadening your horizons just a little, it there is nothing on the market, or do you prefer to rent until the one comes along?

Hey, Bettyboo, it must be lovely where you are. I wish I had considered Scotland, when we had to move but it seemed too northern. Ah, well, you live, you learn.

    Hang in there, AC, guys.

[I'm still in the same position - sold in May, no where to buy at all. NO new houses have come up in the town at all. I'm due to complete on 1 September so will wait until last minute of exchange to pull out. I'm so annoyed as he's the perfect buyer, great price but nothing for sale grrr....[/QUOTE]

So when the buyer is all packed up about to or maybe even has booked removals you are going to drop that on them.

Fingers crossed AC that no one does that to you when you get to Poole.

I'd be pretty darn annoyed as well if I was your buyer!

Surely you can rent for 6/12 months while you search, after all your "perfect buyer and great price" may well not be there in the future.
  • Thanks again everybody .
Anna , really sorry that you are up against it .
Like one or two others have said , best to avoid pulling out.
It sounds easy saying that here, but you may not get that kind of offer again.

I'm trying to do the opposite , in a way .. Move out ASAP then find something ASAP after that . Being sad, alone and single I can do that ;)

This weather , I detest . Yes really ! Sleepless nights . Spiders will be found unexpectedly etc. Oh , and the joys of commuting in the London dump in a suit, where the building has a major aircon problem.
I've already booked 3 half days as holiday , ( doing the late shift ) so I'll be finished around midday . I may take Tuesday off all day as it will be 31 degrees Celsius .
If I get an offer , I may claw back a couple of those days as sick leave. I'm sick of the place as it is .

    Good luck to all

If you are "sick of the place" then you should take "sick leave". :rotfl:

I cannot imagine how difficult in must be in London, commuting and working in a place with faulty air con. You have my sympathy.

Yes Tuesday is apparently set to be gruelling so definitely take some time off.

My poor body is still a mass of aches and pains and some bruising has come up on my legs so obviously the shunt was worse than I thought. My cousin saw the car when she came to the rescue to pick us up and she was stunned that I got away so lightly. Hey ho. Another one of my nine lives gone......:rotfl:

Anna. I too would advise you to go the rental route. "Perfect Buyers" are not ten a penny. Plus oh dear you might not like me saying this......however........whilst what you are proposing to do to your purchaser is perfectly legal it isn't really "cricket" is it.;)

Shoot me down in flames but I think it's morally wrong to pull out of a sale unless you have solid cast iron reasons for doing so. By that I mean death, illness or job loss or a similar change in circumstances. Its messing with people's lives..........

Do the decent thing and good karma will follow you.:D

I am viewing a flat tomorrow - it looks great on paper. We'll see..

I still cannot decide between a flat or a small terraced mews type house. I want something I can lock up and go when I go on my travels but I also want some outside space. A postage stamp sized courtyard garden will do. I just need somewhere I can potter about and sit in the sunshine.

It's out there......along with your buyer. We just have to be patient for a wee while.

TT. Interesting comments about going car free. Had a chat with DS2 and we are going to car share for a while. It makes sense whilst I remain living here with him. I will definitely help him with the insurance. We were on each other's insurance anyway and they will probably load the premums because of the claim so it's only fair I pay my whack. It will help him too if I chip in with some of the car expenses.

Once I move then obviously I might need to think again but for now two cars at the same address is probably overkill.

We've got good transport links, even the airport is only 30 minutes away - anyway it might encourage me to walk more.....:rotfl:

LL, are you going to claim against the !!!! that hit your car? I really hope you feel much better very soon... and wish all EAs were like you. If they were, moving would not be nearly so stressful an experience as it is.

Bettyboo, I'd trade any amount of sunshine for woolly neighbours, or even decent human ones.

Anna, while I really feel for you, I think LL has a point, you would not like to be left in the lurch at the last minute... though personally, I think there is far too much sport around at the moment, not the least of it, cricket. :D

AC, it is hot enough here, today, and higher forecast for mid-week, so do not envy you London at any time but especially not when it's hot. If you really want to move away, perhaps you should think a little outside the parameters you have set yourself. Either that or tart up your flat, or both. Or stay put. It's up to you.
  • Thank god I've got ceiling fans . Apparently , it's just the one day this week that the temperature will be at its worst .
Haven't heard the foxes partying ..yet .
They look cute , but sound like bawling babies .

Must get an ice crusher this week. Mr frosty is on my mind ;)

The accident........well it's six of one and half a dozen of the other......we were both at fault.

I was doing a u-turn, yeah I know.....:rotfl: but she was driving far too fast to avoid me - at least 60. One minute the road was clear then wham, she came from nowhere. Plus it was chucking it down so breaking distances were bad.

I fully expected the police to throw the book at me and prosecute me for executing such a daft manouevre but when I asked they said no it was "just an accident".

So I'll just let the insurance companies thrash it out. I have a protected no claims discount and they have said that it will be fine but I'm just guessing they will front load my premiums - probably around 25 per cent. That seems to be the norm.

I have been driving for over 30 years and have had a couple of prangs but this is the first time that I have been culpable. I genuinely think we were both at fault (the other driver does too) so we will just have to take our medicine. She might be done for speeding but hopefully not. ;)

    That'll learn me!!! :rotfl:

What an incredibly balanced and reasonable view, LL. The world needs more people like you in it.
