I knew you were a  dude. Thank you, AC. You hang in there. And remember there is some wonderful fresh fruit in season!
  • I really am envious at the frequency of your rail services. [Thats the new, in Poole, you ...!] Even on a Sunday you can easily get out and back to places like a Wareham, Dorchester, Upwey, for good walks.

Was looking for walks from Wareham rail station and came across this site, which I don't think I found previously. This page is about regular short walks in Poole itself, and the main 'Walks for Softies' website is Dorset-based. [No offence meant, and I'm sure none taken, I'm just relating to your state of health and fitness, as previously discussed ....!]

Hi TT. Welcome back sounds like you had a fab holiday. Very helpful info there too.. I will have to take a look at the thread on public transport and see what's available here. I do have a car but I also have a rail card and now a gold card so I will see what's out there.

SOme of our tourist hotspots are a nightmare for parking so public transport makes perfect sense, plus of course if I'm driving I don't really get to the see the glorious scenery.

I've always said if ever I was stinking rich I would have two luxuries - custom made shoes and a permanent chauffeur.......(although to be fair my youngest son often chauffeurs me around now).

Well AC how do you feel today......hope you managed to get some sleep and that you feel a bit calmer. I think TTs assessment is spot on, about the "all or nothing" thinking. Try not to stress too much, it won't change the outcome and you only run the risk of making yourself ill. THere is enough panic out there as it is. Try to stay calm and focussed.

Athough I'm not a panicker I can be very impatient. Once I've made a decision I can't stand delays and I want things done yesterday. Unfortunately house buying and selling often goes at a snails pace and we just have to try and curb our impatience.

It will happen, ok maybe not by August but your plans will come to fruition. Just keep a cool head and all will be well.

Yep, the bungalow is out. When I told DS2 his expression told me all I needed to know. When I told him about the string urine smell he made some crack about "well in 20 years your house will probably smell the same". :rotfl: Cheeky bu&&er. Hope he's not right:eek:

Anyway, I trawled through RM and have found a couple of possibles, not bungalows. People who know me tell me they just don't see me in a bungalow .........they think either a swanky apartment or my usual ramshackle period house.

I think they are right - I have a soft spot for old wrecks that I can restore to their former glory - failing that a smart sophisticated penthouse.......

I watched George Clark last night where they were rescuing a couple of old houses, a very smart Georgian townhouse and a nice little Victorian terraced house. As I watched I thought yeah my friends are right, they know me well.

I just missed a penthouse recently but yesterday it came back on the market but then again so did the most idyllic country cottage. Unfortunately they are both right at the top of my budget and I'm a bit nervous about wiping out all my savings.

I will book some viewings ........

Today is "old biddy discount day" at B&Q so I'm off to load up on paint. Our local shed is recruiting and they like employing oldies - maybe I should sign up........:rotfl:

I think I'm ready to go back to work again.

Just got an email from chase Buchanan :
' I would be prepared to go under offer , and then make some bids.
If that doesnt work out financially , then we call it a day . What do you think?'

I replied : ' pleased with the viewings . The thought of reducing any more is suicidal. I will do nothing for now. Things may pickup in the next few weeks. '

    Never mentioned Dexters

The turbulent , bumpy ride has started

    Update ; 'fair enough '
Not happy with that response . He must be under pressure to sell .

Sounds like he's under pressure and worried about his commission/target bonus......

I bet they are looking at end of June bonuses......:rotfl:

    Not your problem.

As you know I worked on site, our financial year end was December but we also had targets for June, the financial half year. I bet they have the same deadlines.

(And yes I always made my targets:rotfl:).

Just a thought, why do they want to call it a day........

They can still keep your property on their books, they have done all the leg work and expended time, effort and money on marketing, so why quit now.

They needn't spend any more money.

    Sounds worrying ?
Should I get Dexters involved ?

    Dinnae fash yersel........

When is your contract up. Don't worry if they want out before then you won't be liable for fees. And anyway, it's highly unlikely they would turf you off their books before then because you could sue for breach of contract.

In that case they would then have to prove you have broken the terms of your agreement. Refusing to lower your price does not breach your agreement.

If you think Dexters are the better agents then just switch when your contract expires. You don't owe Chase Buchanan (do they have swanky offices and designer suits like on "The Good Wife":rotfl:)

They didn't sell your flat so they get nothing.

Well I'm not having the best of days......

Went to B&Q, got soaked but forgot my purse.:rotfl:

    Time for a cuppa......I need cake.:D

AC, CB sound like a load of sounds-like-bankers to me. If they want out, I would get them to put that in writing, clearly stating you owe them squat even if you sell tomorrow, and go with Dexters.

Ahem, LL, it is also "old(er) dudes" day. I swear, it is OH's spiritual home being, as you say, a big shed. Pity the branches around here seem to be closing, (2 in six months) or maybe I could have hired him out; he'd be really, really good. Sales background and lives to "potter about". Just as well, the godawful state this place was in when we got it.

I would put far more faith in someone who looks as if they might have a clue, rather than some pimpled youth who probably doesn't know the difference between gloss and emulsion without his/her mobile phone, m'self...:rotfl:
