Actually snails taste rather good, a little wine, a little cream, a pinch of garlic. Yum, yum..........
Although I prefer Belgian chocolates, waffles and chips with mayonnaise........although not all on the same plate.:rotfl:
Smodlet.....loving the snail and slug puns.....;)
Right tea break over, back to those architraves.0 -
LL, b!b!, if you throw enough wine and garlic at anything (you can keep the cream) you can make it palatable, n'est-ce pas?0
-
Like Bruges and Belgian people. Hate garlic , salad 0nions etc.
Chocolate , waffles and chips . Yum0 -
Chocolate and chips?!? Separately, not together, I hope. Still not sure what a waffle is, except for overly long posts. Don't think I've ever had a waffle, in the edible sense. This must be the reason for the sense of disenfranchisment under which I labour every day, all the time.
Aren't they just inferior chips? Silliness rules, today. Sorry.
AC, how did you get a little, yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it at the top of your post, when we have only a sort of book thingy?0 -
Waffles, a sort of thick pancake batter, cooked on a hot waffle iron - a sort of griddle thing.
Thick Belgian sweet waffles served with lashings of cream, chocolate sauce etc. Oh stop it, I'm on a diet.......:rotfl:
Although the thin crispy ones are quite nice too.;)
Mind you, churros aren't a bad substitute......again a batter type mix, long thin sausage style "fingers" deep fried in oil, drenched in sugar and then dunked in thick Spanish hot chocolate. To die for ......
And then my mother's piece de resistance.......Pan Perdu.. (Lost bread, lol). White bread dipped in pancake type batter, fried in butter, drenched in sugar........Heaven on a plate.:D0 -
No idea about the triangle smodlet .
Just heard some potentially devastating news:
Chase Buchanan called( missed that ). Email followed :
'Unfortunately the market is still struggling for obvious reason.'
'Taking into consideration the feedback, including this weekend ,
I am going have to suggest a further price reduction to £375,000'
'I know it's not ideal, but it's all relative. The house you buy down south will almost certainly be offered at a discount so you won't lose out financially.'
I haven't replied just yet. I am devastated .The price that I was thinking of buying in Poole , was £220,000 hopefully less.
I have about 6 properties I like for around that price.
Does this mean I will be able to get a£220,000 property for around £190,000 now? If so, then I may be ok.
If not , maybe I should just forget everything .
I am thinking of replying to his email , saying 'yes , reduce price but I need a few bids or I take off market .'
I am thinking about talking to estate agents in Poole and see what they think .
More advice needed.
What next ? Propery rescue ?0 -
Oh dear AC. That is upsetting news for you. My advice is sleep on it (or not as the case may be)
Don't act yet. Tell your EA you need time to mull it over. Then yes speak to the EAs in Poole. See what things are like down there.
I am meeting with "Oliver" tomorrow to view that bungalow. I'll try and pump him for info. I'll see if they are nationwide or just a local chain. I think probably local.
Anyway EAs are an incestuous lot (not literally) but they all know everyone in the business so I'll see what I can find out about what's happening across this great nation of ours.
At any rate don't make any rash decisions - give yourself time to breathe.0 -
Oh my gosh, AC, this is just the kind of panic I was hoping our nation, with its sang froid, might manage to avoid. Gut instinct says, keep calm, sit tight and ride it out for at least a couple of weeks.
Try to remember, whatever is happening to your property is happening to all of the others, too and the London market has always been far more resilient than the rest of the country's, I think.
What say you, LL? And step away from the batter... fried bread is bad enough, but bread fried in yorkshire pudding mix? Not feelin' it, gotta say.0 -
Thanks LL
I have just replied to his email. I told him that I will talk to the estate agents in Poole. I also said that if I had a couple of offers at the price mentioned , that may put the price up.
Told him I'm devastated, and if it's on here much longer , I will pull out and take property off the market.
I told him he can call me to discuss tomorrow if he wishes .
Thanks0 -
Just checked my watch list on RM
31 properties in all, two reduced today, one reduced on Friday.
Two have been on the market for a couple of months, both very overpriced to start with and have been coming down in small increments.
The third has been on the market for just a week. Again very optimistically priced so their reduction wouldn't have been enough, even without the referendum.
Overall I would say the reductions are between 5 to 7 per cent.
The bungalow I am seeing was reduced by 10 Per cent a couple of days before the referendum but, given the state it's in I think it was very overpriced to start with.
I'll keep you informed because I'm watching closely now.0
