I also did a good deed for the day (or was scammed out of a £1) A woman and child stopped me in the street and said she had just lost a tenner had I got two £1's - I gave her one. She thanked me profusely and said that she would hope to get another pound from someone else as she walked down the street.
At best I've done a good deed - at worst I've lost a quid.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Survey tomorrow . Gotta text from landlady. She wants me to measure hallway. She has another rug she wants to dump in the flat .
I don't like the one currently n the living room floor dumped about 10 days ago. I've ignored text so far . I will tell her a) I have no measuring tapeI don't like the rug that is there already , as it is slippy at times .
Nice day today . Been to Poole to make a payment to solicitor .0 -

My situation: Lovely 2 bedroom maissonette in Twickenham , complete with garden and parking space .
Know virtually nobody here now . (people moving away etc)
Working : permanently employed Salary £24,500 + ot
Debts: inc. mortgage £105,000 approx
Property worth : £400,000 approx.
I have had 7-8 years of hell , and I know I'm not the only one
Haven't had a holiday for years. Been in debt for years, before getting a DMP in 2012.
My friends are moving away / married etc.
The place of employment , was a place I didn't want to be in for many years . Joined as a temp in the recession 2007 , and made perm 2009. Things have improved in one way, but are bad in another. For example, my backstabbing colleague and my self get on now since 2012. My boss retired , and now the Personnel officer
is now my boss. She is rude and incompetent.
My health suffered last year, and I now have Myasthenia Gravis and am slowly getting back on the mend via steroids.Oh, and I put my brother up for 5 years. He paid £400 a month, but not all at once and I was always chasing him. He was a nightmare , but I have my space back now:)
So, with all of the above , I do wonder if I should just quit and start again.BTW, my boss criticised my appointments, I snapped and am now on a final warning for 2 years. I didn't swear/threaten etc. I just shouted as colleague to boss.
My friends say that I cannot afford to live in London and should buy a place somewhere else and put a sum of money away.
They even say that I could sell my flat and go travelling for a couple of months. Am I too old for this now?
I must admit I am getting fed up of London , but I have lived there all of the time , mainly the Borough and Twickenham.
I wouldn't want to move to anywhere else in London . Twickenham is very pricey as you know.
Please feel free with suggestions you may have, and thanks for looking;)

OK here is my take.
The BIGGEST mistake I ever made was selling my home in London, no infact that was not the biggest, because I did at least trade up to a 4 bed detached. The biggest mistake was selling that and going into rental market because I thought prices were going to crash.
So my advice is to do as follows:
Look West and North West for a better job, places like Beaconsfield, Amersham and beyond on Chiltern like or towards Oxford or Milton Keynes.
You are living beyond the means of the job you have, I am sure that you have skills to get higher paid job, sitting in same job without annual increases rots the soul. Maybe get some additional skills before you go so you can doss about like the HR people do !
Once you have secured job you move into rented accomodation near your job, just a 1 bed flat, look at LHA rate in each area to figure out what is reasonable rent.
Now you rent out your property in Twickenham, it will get a load more than what you will pay in towns around M25 that are in commute area. You will pay some tax but so be it, you can pare down your debt, start with the most expensive interest rate or pay off your mortgage.
The new job will be a fresh start for you, no more living under the cloud of the 2nd warning or working with people that do not value you.
Renting the flat will give you extra income but treat it as a business, do it up to a high spec and rent it for the most the market will bear. Only settle for professional tenants, take 6 to 8 weeks deposit and protect it with DPS plus do all the other legislation requirements, I found this site useful for landlording.
If you pay your debt off you can then use your first property as a base to get a second, not to live in but to rent and so take the steps to becoming a property tycoon, in due course!!Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue.:)0 -
Thanks Edward
I made the decision already . The thread is very long now.
If /.when I move into new flat, I will need to do part two.0 -
Isn't he in London though? Or did you go to your bank to do it?Save
My bank did it . The ( only ) thing I forgot to do , was send utility bill/ copy of passport photo . I have an app, which I will try out later, which hopefully can scan and that means I can send via email.
One of the reasons I used him, was that he said that as he knows me, he shouldn't require me to come to his London office. I have passed the anti fraudulent test etc0
