hi ac and everyone else, haven't posted for a while, but do read regularly and enjoy the community on here.
that house in lodmoor road weymouth looks good.. (remember i come from there). that area would be great for you. easy flat working to town, and the beach, busses on dorchester road take u into town or along dorchester road to lidl, morrisons, then dorchester, poole etc. walking distance to train station. have friends who live in that area, and i would. suggest you go and have a look. nice day out if nothing else.
by the way weymouth has its own micro climate that doesn't register on weather maps. it's often sunnier and warmer than you hear. all the oldies i know who live there regularly say this and i agree.0 -
Thanks harz.
Hello again savingmore:). Looks like I should go to Weymouth next week.
Feel rough after waking up tooo early , for the third day in a row.
Sleeping pattern was getting better.
Having said that, whenever I fancy a lie in on certain days, there's either lots of work being done on other flats, or the buzzer rings for a delivery or something .0 -
Not bad flats AC (and harz99), and well priced too. Do flats tend to be all-electric, and how do you feel about that AC? I do like my gas hob, although have been looking at induction hobs for when mine gives up the ghost, although I would have to have new worktops as well I think. You would have to factor into the equation buying new kitchen appliances - cooker, washing machine, fridge - easily done for a few hundred as long as you are sensible. Although bizarrely one says room for small fridge but the other says room for fridge-freezer (something to check out) - these are both in the same block aren't they, so why would they be different? Maybe it is just estate -agent-speak
Lovely sharp frost this morning - much better than the grey foggy days we have had this week. You can easily see that some of the houses round here don't have much insulation as the frost has already gone from some roofs.
Thoughts with LL today xx.0 -
AC, the weather forecast for tomorrow is the best for the next week (I know forecasts can be wrong etc.). Why not ring the agent this morning and get a viewing tomorrow for the Weymouth house and have a nice day out as well.
Then at the very least you'll have a good comparison with the various flats.
Also this morning, why not get viewings set up for Monday morning on the two flats I posted above
I appreciate you feel rough, your not alone as my sleep patterns are still all over the place, but life has to go on, so some method and application is needed, making the appointments will give you the motivation required.0 -
Well I just set off for supermarket but car won't start! Eldest was busy scraping frost off as she was having a lift to job centre but has to catch bus instead. Looks like battery has given up the ghost as the clock was showing 0.00. Can manage foodwise as tend to always have stuff in and Tesco Express is just a couple of minutes round the corner (although expensive for anything more than bread and milk). Trouble is because I drive onto my driveway I don't think jump leads will reach. I may call RAC out later as have homestart (successfully negotiated discount on this year's membership).
AC - re disturbed mornings with deliveries, work in flats etc. - that is a good reason to consider buying a house (on top of all the other reasons already given). Unless there is major work being done next door, you tend not to get those sort of noise disturbances. Just a thought.0 -
Yeah , thoughts with ll today.
Electric v gas ? Apparently , most of the new flats are being phased out of gas as there are more risks of explosions / gas leaks etc
Electricity is supposed to be safer .so I've heard.
I prefer electric , but this flat is all electric and the meter is being changed. Not keen on the glass top cookers tho'. Pita to clean .
Writing this in bed. Need to get up, and sort myself out0 -

I did think that myself (about the working) but I thought you were hoping to be part-time? In which case you definitely need your privacy. As I said, it's just a thought (definitely no badgering).
I did like the look of those flats though - remind me a bit of the layout of my bungalow actually, although I have a "proper" kitchen diner with room for an table and 4 chairs (and room to extend to seat 6).
It might help your sleeping pattern if you set your alarm for a reasonable time (not the 4a.m. of the other week) and get up and make yourself do things (walking, property viewing, housework) even if you do feel a bit rough. You can always have a short nap after lunch. Again it's best to set an alarm so you don't sleep too long or it will be counter-productive. That is what I did when I first retired and found my sleep was all over the place as I didn't have to get up and out of the door every morning. It does sometimes seem that the less you have to do the more tired/sluggish you feel (well it does for me anyway).0 -
If you could see my very small 1930s galley kitchen you would laugh at this comment, but the phrase 'room for small fridge' would bother me.
In the second flat they must assume you will install a tall narrow fridge/freezer.
My thoughts too are with LL today.0
