Hi again everyone. I am recovering from a succession of tricky things, including a flare of my auto immune swine. Christmas started as it meant to continue, with daughter up all night 24th/25th with child with ear infection, then a chunk of 25th at the out of hours clinic.

AC - a couple of prednisolone thoughts. The two consultants I trust the most insist that reducing the dose must never be more than 10%. So from 10mg down to 9 for a month, then 8 etc. 10 to 7.5 is too big a drop, and is complicated by 7.5 being what the body produces naturally, so it's the dose that most confuses the adrenal system. A big reduction makes you feel even more rubbish than 'normal'.

And.........both 5mg and 2.5 pills are available with enteric coating, which can't be cut, but which protect the stomach. Worth requesting them. 1mg pills don't have the coating.

Hope I haven't sent you to sleep!

Thanks very much Wendy ! Hope this year. , is a year of improvement for you.
I'm just sitting here before my next viewing contemplating prednisolone . For example , this time last year I was on either 1 tablet (5mg) or none at all . It was the time I was moving like a 90 year old man . I'm breathless at times now also . Hopefully part of that is due to where I am being very hilly .
I keep waking up at 4am- 7 listening to radio. I must get out of that habit , and I've decided to podacadt for 6 months and wake up
when my body tells me to .
This in theory means, I shouldn't be so groggy and delicate when the maintenance man is banging away at 8.30 am

As you said ages ago: you couldn't believe how I turned up at work each day . I now put that down yo adrenaline and strong will .
    Thanks :)
Forgot to say, I don't feel as sluggish as last January .also this time last year, I was still undecided .
    Mad:)

And houses???? Still don't understand the willingness to pay service charges, but each to their own etc.

Lovely bright day here, although cold - just what we need to clear those flu bugs away. I suggested to DD that we went for a walk as we both need to get more active but apparently I'm really annoying as I walk too slowly. So won't be joining you on any brisk walks, and if I got down on the floor to do yoga I probably wouldn't get up. So gentle walks will have to suffice for me until I can get back in gardening mode.
Slowly working way through cheese stocks but no biscuits, sweeties or cola in the house. One (slow) step forward.:rotfl:

Went through a binge over Xmas of crisps/ cheddars/ wotsits and Pringles :) Bored of that now .
TBH regarding houses : not to be excluded of course. Trouble is , there aren't any advertised at the moment . I feel a slight attachment to where I am already , but it isn't as cheap as hoped .
My head is a little in the sand at the moment ,as I'm trying not to look at how much I have left to purchase as payplan want their annual review very soon.
The place I'm looking at in a few mins , has share of freehold .£80pm service charge and that's it . No subletting allowed .
    Exciting and scary times :)

Apparently the adrenal system is known to 'wake up' sluggishly when it has been suppressed by pred for a while.

Is breathlessness part of MG? I get breathless (and cross) but that's because of scarred lungs following my misdiagnosed lung clots. Today I have sorted out some bedding for the charity shop. Woo hoo! How on earth did you hold down a job in London?
  • Yes Wendy , breathlessness is a part of my :(
Having said that , it tends to vary with me . It's a 'tiring ,auto immune ' disease . Rest is key apparently . As for excercise , yoga and Pilates are the best things for it .It makes me angry at times , realising that I was as strong as an ox and very fit ,and have to basically start over again.
If tthe tiredness goes , I think I can get strong again ,to a point .
I've now been on the reduced prednisolone for 3 days and I could be feeling a lot worse .
London? Working ? Well , it's too overpopulated now by far . Also too much building work going on . You only have to see commercials with gay builders/ builders playing imaginary guitars on t v , trying to make light of a volatile place we live in .working a permanent early shift is the way to go in London imho.

Understand that Xmas bingy-ness totally. I always think it was good planning to have Xmas just before New Year so we can all knuckle down with our resolutions for healthy eating etc. just after the excesses. Although I have always found that making resolutions for other people is much more fun, and I am not disappointed with myself when they don't stick to them.

With PayPlan it is still up to you to take charge although I know you feel you have to do as you are told. There will be more properties coming onto the market over the next few weeks so it is a good idea to find out what areas you would like to live in. To me, I see £80per month service charge as £960/year - a couple of nice holidays, or ..... a new guitar?

Not too scary times now - the hardest part is over surely?
  • Thanks dreaming . New guitar ..mmm:)
Just looked at a property . Behind parkstone station. 2 nd floor .
Private feel to it . The vendor converted the bathroom into. a second bedroom. Very nice . The kitchen and living room are joined ,but if I wanted to put a door in the arch, then it is seperate . I may go for a second viewing on sat . It's about a 7-8 min walk from where I am now .

    Something to mull over
  • Regarding payplan: if the first thing they ask is ' how much did you sell property for? How much left ' etc? That would be hard to discuss .
Hoping to avoid that scenario by them accepting a good settlement figure.

The hardest part is probably over . I feel that all the tension is gone .
I don't feel capable of work at the moment . Something I've never thought I would ever think or say . Time will be a healer .
Maybe when I come off this prednisolone , I'll be more or less back to normal .

I plan to get back to normal too. Maybe if you successfully drop from 10mg to 7.5, the next time I can reduce I'll abandon fannying about with the 10% rule.

Service charge £80pcm. Something else to mull over..........
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)
"Do what others won't early in life so you can do what others can't later in life"
  • This is true gally :) Believe it or not, that's cheap for flats.
Most seem to be around £1100-1500. Some places much more .
There doesn't seem to be any houses in my range .

Unless I get lucky or move to another area where I'd be totally isolated , it looks very much like it's a flat :(
One thing that crosses my mind: if I get a flat which fits the bill, I'd put away about 10'years service charges solely for that purpose .
Sounds mad , I know . I am liking the area m in , so I don't know any other way.
