  • Yesterday , went for brisk walk . That was mid morning . As the 'caretaker' has been around a lot recently , I feel prompted to get out around 8.30am when he starts his business. This morning felt tired/ breathless .I left 8.30 to go to the shops as heavy rain was forecast . It's very hilly where I am which is good for me. As I came out of my front door, I find a screw has gone right through my newish trainers. Not impressed. This caretaker is sloppy.
Feel tired still . I think part of the problem is because I awake at 4.am
I will do this once more tomorrow. After that, the timer on my radio will be switched off.
I am browsing , looking for gyms in the area. Looks like Bournemouth for that. May go to Bournemouth and have a look around tomorrow .

Have doctors appt on Monday . Had a nice call from the surgery yesterday, discussing my medication . I'll be picking some stuff up,from there next week .

The last few days : The bad :,apart from the m g, I bought a couple of apple products . Not a case of chucking money out the door, but my Mac mini is 10 years old . Rather than buy a new one, I bought an iPad mini 4.
It means I can record properly, in theory for a few years until it gets sluggish etc. I bought an Apple TV box. My other one in storage was either stolen by removal men or in the box I put my to in when I moved .

The good : not eating pringles, crisps etc.
Will continue brisk daily walks tomorrow .

Remainder of my time is talking/ chatting/ emailing Apple support about compatability issues.
    I may Ebay Mac mini / ipad2 .
Nearly forgot : utility warehouse will contact me , probably ,Monday about my readings . They haven't had readings for a couple of months and I'm hoping I don't get a huge bill . I kept readings so will, challenge .

    Have a good day :)

    Hi AC,
I thought you already had an ipad? I am sorry but it was an HUGE extravagance, the mini 4's are V expensive they start at £380!!!!!why not go for the mini 2 that Apple are selling off. As for the apple tv, I'm not sure why you've wasted nearly £100 on one..

Sorry to sound a grump but you still have ALL your debts looming over your head and you've just throw probably the best part of £500 on gadgets

    Grrrr :(

Well it is your money AC but I agree with Anna that maybe you might be best sorting out the payplan settlement and your new property before splashing out on toys. Getting a proper budget in place so you don't go through all that money before you even find somewhere to live let alone a new job is IMHO essential. Have you put any of it away so you are not tempted to keep spending?

It is not only service charges you need to consider but utilities, general living expenses and of course your storage costs until you buy somewhere.

    Thanks Anna / enthusiastic . That's it . No more expense :)
The reason I purchased the more expensive iPad? Lads of space . It means I can plug my bass guitar in it , and start recording again and upload to SoundCloud .
The Apple TV ? This ' mirrors ' from the iPad , so I can have everything on the big screen so to speak .
There are no more updates for the iPad 2 . The mini 4 is fresh in comparison , and will have plenty of updates without issues.(?in theory:) )
The Apple TV will also hold all my music without glitches.

I was gonna buy a MacBook Pro initially, so these both cost less. :)

I am a little scared with what I have left from sale and what I can/ can't afford .
I'm up to page 23 on re reading this thread .
    I put £7k in an isa . I took out £13k to,put in the current account .
£1500, of that was instantly, wiped out . ( overdraft) Been using that acct for food expenses / day to day living. Paid 3 months council tax in advance last week. I had to buy a few clothes, shoes etc.
Once payplan is sorted , that's it . Worried about that upcoming conversation , but hopefully they'll take a settlement im happy with.
There is one plus ( clutching at straws I know): I received full months salary in Nov
That's everything in a nutshell so far .
I am contemplating paying a years council tax upfront in April .
The landlady has been paid 5 months in advance , plus deposit .

Yes, I have to be careful from now on .

Hi AC - yes time is moving on quickly - we're nearly one thirtieth through the year already! No snow here (yet) but persistent rain. The cat tried each door to the back garden (well got me to open all 3 of them) and was not impressed that it raining wet outside each one so we snuggled up on sofa and watched No Offence on catch-up. Very enjoyable but then I was a fan of Shameless - at least in the early days.
Can sort of understand spending on technology but please watch it. It is easy to justify each spend as a one-off but lots of one-offs add up.
Anyway, have been thinking and wondered if it might be better to postpone PayPlan review until after you have bought somewhere? I know the plan has always been to pay off debts with settlement figure then buy but I also know you have been worried about the amount you have in cash, and if they would demand the full amounts. Well, rest assured they won't know about that unless you tell them, but if that money is gone (on property) then it isn't available. You would need to ask someone with more knowledge (perhaps on your other thread) but it was just something that occurred to me today. The priority is to find somewhere to live which you can afford and feel comfortable in, and although I believe that debts should be paid - if that takes a bit longer then so be it.
    Good luck with the viewings.

Thanks again dreaming . Yes, I'll have to raise payplan issue in other thread .Dont think,I'm allowed to avoid annual review . But may hopefully just cut to the chase, avoid disclosing too much although they know enough already .
    Will watch spending now :)
    Thanks smodlet also:)

AC. You are skating on very thin ice.

Stop spending on toys. It appears you only lose or misplace them anyway.........

And why do you need to pay council tax in advance. You don't know how long you are going to be in that apartment.

For someone who professes to be uber cautious you seem to have a cavalier attitude towards money. It seems to slip through your fingers like water. Ok yes it's your money and you can do what you please with it but...........you cant in the same breath then say you are nervous or anxious about money.

Either blow it and the devil take the hindmost or be a bit more canny and thoughtful.

Time is not standing still and renting and storage costs are eating into your capital.........you need. To start house hunting - pronto.

No more toys, no gym fees, (exercise is free) and no more frittering money and wasting time........it's costing you dear so pull your finger out and get cracking.

House first, discretionary spending comes later.

Dad's funeral 27th January, looks like it's going to be a "military" affair so a lot to organise. JUst wading through his paperwork and sorting out his estate.

Finally managed to get to the hairdressers today. I said goodbye to the Silver Fox, time to find out if blondes really do have more fun.:rotfl:

    I will let know....:D
