Feeling sick today . Doxycycline does that if you haven't eaten anything with medication in the morning .
Just gonna have a late breakfast ,and see how things go .
Good job that I have the time to settle and readjust .
Gym will have to wait0 -
Hi guys....
AC. Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit rough. Take it easy and try a bit of TLC. You've had a very busy time and now you need to set aside a bit of "mending time". Try and get your sleep patterns right, regular meals and medication etc. Some walking and Pilates. Then think about gym work.
There's no real hurry is there. I think you are still mentally in "work mode" and you need to shift down a couple of gears.
Remember the Tortoise and the Hare.
Well I had a fab weekend out and about with my boys.
On Saturday DS2 and I went to a great craft fair, for lunch and a little light Christmas shopping. Yesterday DS1 and DIL treated me to lunch and then we went to see Fantastic Beasts as a celebration for DS1s recent work promotion.
I am not the kind of mum who goes around bragging about my kids but let's just say I'm one proud mum at the moment.
Now......all I need is for DS2 to marry that fantastic girlfriend of his and then my work will be done.....:rotfl:
And maybe then I can get on with my life........
Actually I have loads of ideas and plans for next year. Ran them past the kids and they are as excited as I am.
I will share them later as life unfolds.
Dad quite perky at the moment after his two blood transfusions last week. I meet his medical team on Thursday when he goes for some more tests and then his next transfusion. I have a couple of questions.
Realistically it will be dad's last Christmas so we have decided to throw him a family party on Christmas Eve, assuming he's well enough.
Today he mentioned he would like to go to Belguim again this summer.
Maybe he will confound the doctors......;)0 -
Start of a new week AC and good the eye is getting better. Medication normally needs to be taken with food so best to stick to 3 regular meals both for your blood sugar and energy levels and to help with medication getting into your system. Lots of water too over the day will help you feel healthier. Gentle walking should be fine for the next few weeks and gradually move on to gym or swimming in the New year if I were you. Spend these next few weeks relaxing and unpacking and perhaps a trip up to Big Yellow to get out your computer and perhaps a few things to help you feel at home. Do you read or is it just TV and music you like to listen to?
My brother is thankfully over his MS relapse and walking normally again now thanks to steroids and rest. His employer is being extremely supportive with regards to hours and working from home rather than having to do the one hour drive into work. He is an IT manager so thankfully can work remotely from home when he has future relapses.
Off up to London in a week or so to visit him and my mum and stepdad and sister plus niece and nephew.
Good luck with the F and F. My 1 year old DGD has just woken up so off to see to her. She has hand, foot and mouth which I never realised babies could get when my DD told me Saturday. LL ..glad you had a great weekend
Sons sound like you ,so they'll be fine
Enthusiastic ,glad your brother is ok also.
LL , your dad is a strong character ,so whatever you plan should be fine..
Checking notes ,to see what I need . Got sports socks from that dreaded mike hashley chain of sports shops .
Got some Christmas cards . Just went into that food cafe in Poole and feel
Better for doing so.
In one of the flats above , there is a bloke shouting at random moments
Either he is unwell, talking to himself or having heated conversations with family members. Still that was lunchtime .
May go gym tomorrow .( yes , I know ..:) ) it'd only be cross trainer and bike anyway ,to start off with.
Need to get stuff from big yellow . Probably tomorrow .
I do read, but I have a habit of reading on the internet while listening to a. Canadian rock station . Can do neither .
That's all for now ..:)0 -
AC - don't forget you won't just be able to walk into a gym and use the equipment. Why don't you phone them and book in the induction, it'll probably be in a couple of days anyway so give you time to prepare (physically and mentally) for it0
-
Glad all going well AC. I think it would be good for you to join the gym now - you said you were going to do so and it will give some structure to your days (assuming you actually go :rotfl:). As you've hinted, you can start off slowly and build up, and like Anna says you will need an induction.
Now that you are in Poole and are getting to know the area have you formed any better an idea of where you'd like to end up? Have you decided it HAS to be two beds - would a larger one bed with a sofa bed in lounge not suffice? Is hearing neighbours making you more inclined to look for a house, not forgetting the working till Monday lunchtime to pay service charges?
I'm asking all that as I think (against all other advice) it wouldn't do any harm to look for THE property. Not A property but the ideal one - a one or two bed house in x, y and z area, but not on a,b and c streets etc. As you've seen, it takes a good few months to complete and you could say you want to exchange asap but complete on X date in the future, giving yourself time to move in a leisurely fashion and maybe even decorate first. However - DO NOT RUN ROUND LIKE A HEADLESS CHICKEN VIEWING EVERYTHING!!!!!!
LL - sorry about your dad, hope all goes as well as it can.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

All of a dither today and don't feel as if I have achieved much, although dinner (chicken casserole) is cooking away nicely in the oven. Starting to receive Christmas cards from distant friends and so far there has been news of family deaths in 2 (both elderly relatives) so a bit poignant. I have neither of my parents alive (mum died aged 39 some 54 years ago, and dad went 27 years ago aged 65) but still miss them.
Anyway AC, can't help thinking that your comments on the noise from the other flats might just lead you to considering buying a house when it's time. Even in a terraced house the noise tends to be muffled (in my experience anyway) and not so intrusive as people above you. I know you have lived in "upstairs" flat yourself and seem to think that is a better option I am sure you could probably get a nice semi-detached house (might have to go out of town a little further) and only have noise potential on one side. Just a thought and a better one than my slightly gloomy start to this post (sorry). Another thought was, although I am a big fan of lists etc., try not to overload yourself with lots of plans - just give yourself one or two tasks to get done this week (retrieve technology and check out gym perhaps?). Much better to keep things achievable.
ETA - cross posted with Gallygirl who was obviously thinking along same lines as me re property.0 -

Hey AC, GG, LL, dreaming and all,
GG, I don't think I have ever advocated anything other than looking for the property as soon as practicable, ideally freehold houses as, I think, have a few others on here. I certainly would never buy a flat... We could (possibly) have done that in my home town but we would never have fitted into one. When we had to move, it had to be to a place big enough to hold (most of) our stuff. We did have to get rid of far more than we would have liked. That is the only reason we ended oop 'ere, where it's grim, whatever LL says.
I miss the south, the accents, (hell, the efficiency!) all the time and will never stop doing so, unless we win the lottery.0 -
Thanks folks again ..
Dreaming ,hope things improve for you .
The property I missed out on last week ,wasn't too far from what I think would suit . It was downstairs , and I prefer upstairs .
When my friend came around on weds , I said if I lived upstairs ,I would
carpet the floor at the very least . He said a couple of rugs would suffice .
Early days , and there is also a small puddle in the bath also .
Landlady ,hasn't responded to my text yesterday , so I assume she knows about the water problem . I wonder why she wants the windows open all the time ? I'm thinking of getting a dehumidifier ,as an investment for this property and beyond . What happens if I don't open windows all the time ?
What could she do ? I don't smoke . Don't eat smelly foods . / garlic/ onions etc.
Still no cats in sight .
Regarding flats : upstairs best ?
I'm registered with a few estate agents ,so they should contact me if something may meet my requirements . After February is when I should be a lot more concerned if nothing is available to buy.
Regarding service charges : if the price of property is good for a place i may like , then maybe I should get it with the aim to put say ,£15k in a separate account solely to pay that for 5-10 years?
I know I've made my bed and have to lie in it ,regarding returning to London is concerned , but I don't want to be too isolated . I do like it here.0 -
