  • I got almost £400 refunded from e d f . Need to check statement .
Got a sum refunded from Thames water, which sounded good but I forgot how much.
Also, my final months salary had an extra £250 in it.
I was under the impression that , I may even get less due to 1 weeks notice and using my holidays to exit , which I did actually plan .:)

My friend who used to work there gave me a call, and said I left everything behind at the right time .:)

Yep. I'm awake too. Can't switch off and have a blinding headache. Hardly surprising after the last few days.

Never mind I will cancel the property viewings tomorrow and take it easy. Given what is likely to be happening in the next few weeks with dad I might just postpone househunting for a while, I'm happy living with DS2. We get on like a house on fire and although he has finally started dating i don't think we will be hearing wedding bells just yet.:rotfl:

Anyway......If I lived alone who would bring me my early morning cup of tea in bed. I'd have to buy a fancy schmancy machine.....

A nice winter sunshine Holiday .....yes I'm tempted. But I have the Baltic cruise booked for May so I can hang on. I have just booked another course of Physio which takes me through till about March anyway. Still got a lot of back, neck and shoulder problems so don't really feel like travelling at the moment. I am quite happy to be a home bird for now.

I am getting the blood sugar levels under control but I would like to lose some weight too. So for the time being I want to concentrate on health and fitness until I am fully restored to my usual vim and vigour. I need to get super fit for that Amazon trip. (Jan 2018).

Broadband?? I am not sure how much we pay. That's DS2s dept, he's the tech guy. I think £15 a month rings a bell. I'll ask him. I know he mentioned sorting out my phone in the new year.

How long would you be locked in for, can you transfer the package to another property when you buy your forever house.

For gas and leccy we use Ovo ??? Or some such. He rates them. They are quite "green" and their charges are good.

We did put in a very efficient boiler, have thermostats for each radiator and something called Tado. As I say DS2 is a real techie and very keen on things like fuel efficiency. DS1 also works in the field of alternative energy so between them they are pretty clued up.

Apparently despite this property being a standard Victorian terrace, no cavity walls, high ceilings etc our fuel bills are quite a bit below the standard national average.

Good news about all the refunds and the unexpected bonus in your last pay packet. Every little helps. ;)
  • Thanks LL :)
You've got loads going on . You'll get there eventually .
Speaking of house hunting, I saw 1 place that I saw on right move about an hour ago. It's share of freehold , maintenance that can be done as needed etc. A 2 bedroom ground floor maisonette with garden .
Obviously there will probably be an annual charge. The place looks lovely, and reminds me of my last place as here's a bird feeder in the garden .looks more like a Georgian house .
Have a feeling , cats would be happy there. I may view it.
    I know I don't need to view just yet . We'll see :)

Share of freehold sounds good. The annual charge would presumably be ground rent so very little? You could start viewing properties now to get a feel of what's available in your price bracket and to get to know the different areas.
Well done on losing weight/ toning up already. Nothing like lots of walking to kick start feeling better and getting a virtuous circle going. I'm trying to get out every morning as it's dark so early in the afternoon. Today is going to be beautifully sunny so about to get up and get going. Was in West Dorset last weekend and had 2 fabulous sun sets. Used to know Poole/Parkstone/Branksome and Bournemouth well too.
How is the regular meals cooking healthily going? I think your sleeping paterns might improve if you could get into 3 meals a day at regular times with some vigorous walking in between to tire you physically.
Have you made a/some lists yet? Written a budget? We're all watching your progress like hawks aren't we! Hope you feel we're beneficial guardians rather than the bane of your new life.
    Enjoy the sunshine today.

My new life starts now I guess. Healthier eating starts today . Tomorrow the latest .
Just moved out of the peregrine on Poole harbour :(
I have now moved into my new abode for six months .
Everything is electric . Frightened to use the cooker, as I bought one many years ago before Twickenham address . I left a couple of marks on that wouldn't come off, despite the special cream I used.
Utility warehouse are the suppliers . No joy in getting through to them .
Will have to keep trying throughout the day to give meter reading .
This place is very green, with trees everywhere . Loads of magpies.
    No cats yet .
Landlady wants windows open al the time . She will pop in from time to time. Lovely sunny day .

Good morning AC, all. Congrats on your move although the landlady wants the windows open all the time? At this time of year? How are you supposed to heat the place without racking up a fortune in leccy bills? Why does she? To disguise the condensation/damp problems? I would be inclined to investigate this, personally. What think you, LL and everyone?

Does the landlady live there too? Sorry, I may have missed something here. I hope all goes well for you and that you find something permanent soon. This might be a good time of year to be looking as not many will be and you might be in the bargain season. Come the Spring, everyone will be house hunting, I imagine.

At least you were not with GB Energy  One problem you don't have, thank goodness.

Hope you will be happy in your new (for now) home AC.
Another one here happy with OVO. Just done the monthly meter reading (e-mail reminders set up) so I keep on top of things. I hate having an unexpected huge bill - would rather see it happening and investigate. I do have good insulation (loft and cavity wall) and also have solar pv panels. The payment I get from that covers my combined gas and electric bills (£57 per month with 2 people in a semi-detached bungalow). Water bill has just gone up from £27/month to £41/month, I think due to DD's shower routine (stand in shower until I hammer on door!) and double washing loads. I am with virgin for b/band and phone - not cheap at around £47/month (with free weekend/evening calls) so I need to sort that out after Christmas. Trouble is this house does not have BT phone line (just the cable) so not sure what to do about that. Just have freeview tv as tend to read more than watch.
There is a lot to think about AC - try not to get overwhelmed, you have done so well so far. I also need to lose weight (quite a bit unfortunately) and looking at the food spending this month (told you I like a spreadsheet and a list) can see that it is creeping up again with "treats" so aim to cut that back as soon as possible. I agree with landlady about open windows but not all the time. Mine are open for probably about 4 hours a day, but not when the heating is on. Lovely sunny day here too but sharp frost last night.
  • Hello smodlet & dreaming :)

I'm beginning to find my bearings ..I think:)
Place I'm staying in is about a 12 min walk from station ,and one big hill .
Just having my last cappuccino and croissant for the last time for a while .
I believe there is a gym in Ashley cross and will investigate in a minute .
May pop into the doctors ,and see if I can register .
Oh,I have to do some food shopping .
Starting porridge tomorrow . That I already have ,and never started last week when I should :)

I would definitely be investigating the open windows instruction. That combined with all electric heating is a recipe for a scary bill.

Can she dictate to you as long as you pay your rent?

Porridge is quite filling. I also put a teaspoon of honey or jam with mine to take the blandness away.
