Naming no names, but someone connected to our family is money obsessed, obscenely rich and so tight fisted you would not believe it, except that you would.
One daughter and I made the satisfying but irrational decision some years ago to settle his hash by never again taking a ha'penny off him. The last time we settled another £100 pub lunch bill we did wonder whether we need our heads seeing to.
I think when people are snotty about your sabbatical/early retirement you should hint at the numbers being on your side at the roulette wheel, or your investments being perfectly timed.0 -
Good morning all,
Good luck at the dentist from me, too, wendym.
Sun shining here, blazing it is but freakin' freezin'.
AC, if you just tell people you are from London, that would probably suffice. Most know how high London property prices are and that, in most places outside of it, you can get much more for your money... not sure about Poole so much as it, too is expensive.
Congrats on the imminent exchange, good luck and please keep us posted, I know you will.0 -
Thanks Wendy / smodlet
At work , there is a week each year in the fist week of November where people come from china and the company get stressed and agitated.
Don't see why TBH, when the place is a dump.
A lot of the staff, go to hotels for a few days and are half cut the following day .
They talk to you when they want something , or not a all. Then there are the gold diggersand brown tongues.
All about money and status really . One or two have a personality, by hat is all.
Looking forward to Friday ( if it's all on )...0 -
Just gave chase a call, and fingers crossed..all good for Friday0

Yay! The final countdown. Very excited for you AC. It sounds like you'll really benefit being away from that environment.
Time to flourish is nigh.

I'm not going to congratulate you just yet........ I don't want to be a jinx.:rotfl:
Just keep your powder dry and then on Friday afternoon you can swan in and hand in your notice with a flourish and a bow.
And it will be......Cue song........:rotfl:
"What a Feeling"........ (flashdance).
Start practising those moves.......:rotfl:0 -
Well I'm all glam with my sharp new hair cut. There's a charity shop next door to the hairdresser.
Now without being too cocky I'm quite good at stuff like design, DIY , dressmaking, furniture restoration, etc so I'm always on the lookout for "stuff" for projects. I can't walk past a charity shop. :rotfl:
A couple of years ago I started designing and making jellery, so I'm always on the lookout for broken jewellery I can cannibalise and remodel.
Today I found a brooche, several stones were missing but at 50p I wasn't bothered. I just the assumed the stones were glass. Got it home - they are diamonds, tiny but diamonds none the less.
In its present state it's probably worthless but I'm sure I can come up with an idea.0 -
Wendym......hope the visit to the dentist isn't too traumatic. :eek:0
