Morning AC. Following on from my earlier thoughts I googled Twickenham removal and storage, and got this company:

    http://www.caseyremovals.com/richmond-twickenham.html

Now, I'm not making a recommendation but they look okay, and customer focused on the face of it.

I know there has been chat about using a removals firm with storage based in Poole, but I think you'll struggle with finding that, as any half decent company is going to want to see what they are moving before taking on the job, and you're a long way to go for an estimate!

Can you share with us what progress you have made with regards to meeting NW re short term financial help?

Have you given any thought to my suggestion about using Booking.com to sort out cancellable hotel accommodation?

    Morning harz:)
Thanks for the link. Will look into it .Im looking into what you said earlier. You can imagine my head turning in multiple directions, taking great advice from everyone.
Regarding nationwide ,I will pop into a branch and ask to speak to 'a manager' and see where that gets me.
I'm hoping to get something to move into if I'm
Lucky .it means one move into rented, and one move into my chosen property to settle around 6months after that .
I have packed only 2 plastic crates, but now have the enthusiasm to carry on this afternoon .Basically , my bedroom is done.
Got to get my finger out to do the rest . Will need to have evertything ready fora removal co to give an assessment anyway.

    Thanks again:)

Okay AC, from my experience of NW that approach won't work. You normally need to make an appointment to see any of the branch managerial staff at the branch you bank at, otherwise all you get is the counter staff on "meet and greet", and you need a decision maker.

Also, have you thought about mail redirection - you will need an address for the redirect which needs to be applied for at least a week in advance - I suggest you ask your friends down in Poole now, if they are willing to allow you to redirect to them for a couple of months, then on exchange you can put that in process.

If you haven't got a confirmed address when setting up your mail redirection, check and see if one of the Poole branches offers the Poste Restante ("To be called for") service:

  • Thanks :)
Yes, one of get first things I have todo is the Royal Mail
Redirection . Will do that next week, when I have more of a clue as to what I'm doing :)

But be aware that one of the conditions is that you have to prove your address which is potentially problematic when you don't have one to give in advance. Also that the mail has to be addressed to the Poste Restante address of the post office you choose. I'm not aware that you can set up a redirection to such an address anyway and I don't think the service is really intended for long term redirection from miles away. Also AFAIK can only be set up by personal visit at the chosen office.

I'd prefer a redirection to a helpful friends address, then cancel and set up a new one when a more permanent address is known.
  • Thanks harz - noted :)
So , just had a chat with my colleague .
We've agreed to swap shifts on Friday .
I'll be doing the late shift on Friday . My colleague is happy , as he has a lot to do before his holiday next week.
What he doesn't know (if contracts are exchanged on Friday ), is that I will hand in my notice sometime after 3pm .
If I leave on the 11th, it means he won't find out until his return . I should be gone by then

I clearly didn't have my thinking head on when I suggested a removal company based in Poole.

Storage in Twickenham until you are ready will be just as efficient - I was trying to avoid unloading into a storage unit and then out again when you are established.

PS My Thanks button is off on its own sabbatical again.
  • You're always a great help Wendy :)
I've just gotta focus on packing more stuff, and making decisions .
What I've noticed over the last few months while typing/ texting etc :
My ' brain', seems to be too quick and I keep hitting the return button or other buttons , causing random predictive text.
This means it takes longer, and is very annoying
