Thanks smodlet & copperjar .
Copperjar, keep contributing. You are not clogging up,the thread;)
I just wrote about three things in succession.
Anyway , feel awful. It's almost 6 am . Absolutely no sleep. My pillows kept falling to the floor. Did I mention I need new pillows/mattress/ bed.
(Bolsters rather than pillows , as its a king size bed).
I've got the friend of my brothers coming here around 9am.
He is doing some jobs for my brother. He is gonna have a look at my loft, and we will discuss whether he can do the move or not .
My brother was trying to get me to use him for a Friday, but as I say Wednesday is the best option . No last minute messing around .
Plus I have to hand the keys to chase Buchanan at a certain time etc.
Will probably go into my local branch of nationwide this morning
( is it worth it ?) ,and/ or phone Vanquis about increasing limit to my credit card temporarily
Then have a coffee , then back to bed around 11am, as I feel rotten0 -
Hi AC. Sorry you've had another bad night. Hardly surprising though. When this is all over you will sleep for England.
Good luck with the bank. Try and speak to someone in a position of authority, although TBH that might be difficult on a Saturday.
You might be better off taking time of work to have a one to one appointment at your local branch on a week day. You really need to get in front of the decision maker. Can you ask your solicitor to furnish you with a letter of assurance.0 -
Thanks LL . I could do , no problem. The trouble is , nationwide are just saying'the computer says no.'
I guess it's probably because I'm on a dmp.
Other news: Huge Australian removal co. Have knocked down my collapsible bollard . As we know, moving is stressful . The neighbours (renting for about 2 years) are moving .
So I'll say nothing and keep my mouth shut .
It may be a case of just pushing it back up and locking it .0 -
Morning AC. Its good that you have a timetable in place, however it is just that, a timetable.
Until you have exchanged on 4th November nothing is assured, and you will probably find normal loan providers unwilling to take your impending "windfall" into consideration until the exchange has happened. Any new credit card would also have a much lower limit than you are seeking.
So next steps, as LL said seek an appointment at your Nationwide branch, preferably with a decision maker rather than a salesperson. Usually they have waiting lists of appointments so you may not get seen until the 4th anyway.
Advice from an experienced debt advisor as mentioned a few posts back also a really good idea before you even consider loans from any other providers.
Turning to the removal now, I understand your reasoning re going Wednesday before completion, but do you know from Poole letting agents whether you will be able to complete arrangements and take over a rental in the very short timescale you will have available?
If not, find out PDQ what the likely timescale is, and make sure you have a remover up your sleeve who can also store your property for a few weeks if needed.
On the removal day, how would you propose to get to the new property before the lorry, so as to be there when they arrive wanting to deliver your belongings asap? As I see it you will train(?) and bus down to Poole/Bournemouth Wednesday, stop overnight at least then do a day or two day trip back to tidy the old place and hand over keys, is that correct?
You may also wish to look at Poole/Bournemouth B&Bs/Hotels for a short term stay, Booking.com would be a good place to start as many of the places listed can be cancelled up to a few days before.
Please, whatever you do, don't rush into taking a loan out until you have actually exchanged, except possibly with NW who if they decide to help, may be more flexible with cancelling any arrangement if anything goes wrong.
Incidentally, a decision maker at NW would, I hope, recognise that you will have considerable funds looking for a home following your sale, which would go elsewhere if they are unhelpful, wouldn't they!!

But as mentioned earlier don't put all the equity in one place. The govt guarantee is for £75k only so you'll need 3 or 4 accounts in non related banks. Remember to check the list on here for which banks are connected.
And fingers crossed that exchange happens next week. Nothing is set in concrete until then.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
Saw my brothers friend. He's gonna get back to me and let me know.
Spoke to a friend of mine, who has experience of moving many times.
He said , if I can get away without borrowing anything till funds Are available after the move, all the better.
He did say , it may be best to just get my stuff put straight into storage , in Poole and arrange for a weeks stay or so at a b&t until I can find a place to rent .
So many options0 -
Your friend has a point AC. Bearing in mind your difficulty in raising ready cash for immediate expenses you might be best focusing your efforts on just getting enough to put a deposit down on removers costs and sufficient for a few days in a b and b in Poole. Sort it out after the money arrives in your account. We have always had it on completion day in the past sent by bank transfer so you should not need to wait too long.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks smodlet
Just feeling more nervous now .
I think it the feedback seems to be a mixed bag, as to whether I'm
doing the right thing . It seems here , more or less everyone
thinks I'm doing the right thing. Support is amazing .
I'm just going to make it look like a 6 month sabbatical .0
