It sounds like you've had a flood of information so it's not surprising you feel confused and worn out.
Some decisions are easier as a couple, but as a single person we get to make all decisions around what we want without having to compromise. What if your partner loved Surrey Road and thought Gavin was very charming???? Eek!
You are never a sissy AC. I'm so inspired by your bravery and tenacity now. Inspired and impressed.
I genuinely want to live like Uncle John ! Get out of the rat race completely and live like I'm on a permanent holiday! Any partner I then potentially get will have me at my best and happiest. I'd be happy to move away again with the right person in the right circumstances, but in the meantime I'm living my life on my terms! That's a fantasy right now as my life is nowhere near my terms.:o
You're doing a great job AC.0 -
Thanks again people
My friend ( who lives in Southampton ) knows Westbourne well, and obviously knows me . Hard to explain ( even the guy in lower parkstone thinks I'll struggle).
Liaising with my friend from Southampton ' you should've sorted your job out first .' Me:' but I have this condition IMHO I am not employable etc'
Trying to compare the life of twickenham and Westbourne : Westbourne has lots of shops , lots of old folk , but has lots of quiet and quite spacious areas.Twickenham is more packed, I know everything there . Better transport ( tho' if I move to wherever I soon adapt to the more ltd services). The Westbourne area is better for air quality obviously and I've mentioned the rest about London .
Frantically thinking about 'what now ?'
Looks like I can't go back on the sale . I am thinking of maybe buying that flat and selling it next year.
Job I do, is Postroom / facilities .
It was my first step yesterday. Next week I'll go to lower parkstone , but not sure if I'll have the same experience .

I'd rather be too young for the place, than too old for it!
Morning AC, now as you seem to have struck a good note with Hattie, why not talk to her about 6 month rentals as Paris does both.
Also, looking at their listings last night, this one, although nearer to Bournemouth, looks pretty decent:

Still within short walk from buses on Lansdowne Road, and not far from Bournemouth Rail Station.0 -

I don't think that is a good idea at all, just thinking of the total costs of buying and then selling that property and a years expenses on ground rent etc., versus say renting for one year. Then you would have the uncertainty of getting a buyer all over again.
By all means buy it if you are sure of staying medium term at least, if not don't do it.0 -
Good morning AC.
How are you today - hope you managed to sleep and that you are not suffering from "brain whirr" - ie that your brain is over active and buzzing round in circles.
Just caught your post - of course you are confused. It's inevitable. There's a lot to consider.
But both Debs and Muffin make some very good comments.
Twickenham......well let's face it you're broke so you won't be going out on the town every night and living the high life and if you remain in Twickers then that scenario won't change.
And even if you bought a cheaper studio you would still be in the same old Job which is frankly wearing you out. Even if you had the money you don't have enough energy......;)
Muffin is spot on. Ok you might not want to live in a park home like Uncle John although I do know several people who, because of severely reduced financial circumstances, did buy residential park homes and they are fab.
We're not talking "Big Fat GYpsy style sites" here, we are talking nice residential sites, usually in very nice areas.
Which brings me neatly to my next point.
I looked at the Portalington Road property. Honestly?? It's ok but nothing to set the pulse racing. Not at that price. Yes I know you are paying for the road but let's be honest there are plenty of nice tree lined streets in that area, it's not exactly Sandbanks is it.. It's not as if you are having to add top notch schools to your wish list.
So, I then set up a half Mile radius and did a search from there. Lots of choice and for less money.
If I can give you one piece of advice.
Don't go to the top of your budget. You need a cushion. EVen going £20k under would keep you in comfort for 2 years, without worrying about having to find a job straight away.
The property I am buying is £35k less than my top budget. It doesn't need renovating and I will be mortgage free. Plus of course I do have an income, SRP and two private pensions. I will have no mortgage, no maintenance fees and council tax is only band C.
At some point I will be using that £35k as a BTL deposit which will further increase my income.
My advice is buy under budget......and give yourself a nice healthy cushion, so that you are not fretting about work.
IF you really insist on buying In such an upmarket expensive area then a one bed would save you around £50k. Realistically how often are you going to be "needing" as opposed to wanting that second bed. How often will you be having guests to stay. If it's only occasionally then when you buy your new sofas, make one of them a sofa bed.
You can always sell up and move again in a couple of years once you are firmly established in your new job.
I will talk about work in another post another time - got a busy day planned.
The Portalington Road is a good size and has generously proportioned rooms but other than that, it's pretty average. The kitchen is clean and serviceable but dated. You would be paying for a garage that you don't use, and a second bedroom which will probably end up as a dumping ground. How often do you use your second bedroom for its intended purpose. It doesn't even have a bed in it.......:rotfl:
Lots to think about so I won't add any more just yet. I have a raft of ideas and comments about jobs etc but I won't overburden you just yet.
Have a good day. Are you at work.
I spent yesterday weeding and pruning in the garden so am going to tidy up and do a tip run. Poor DS2 has a trip to the dentist so I'll go along because he may need an extraction in which case I will be on hand to drive him home.0 -
Harz is dead right......don't even think of buying and selling again within a one year time frame. Utter madness. It will cost a fortune. Just dont. .
One years rent will be far cheaper and a lot less stressful.0 -

That looks much better. And £35k cheaper......:D0 -
