Sounds like a good plan. AC.

Hi Muffintops. Good to see you back. Glad you feel a bit better.

Dont worry I'm taking it easy. I just don't fancy Cyprus again. (Sorry to any Cypriots - youR country is lovely). It's just that I decided I would rather visit somewhere new rather than revisit an old favourite.

I'll decide where later. Need to make a start on that bucket list. Lol

Just nipped out to the shops. It's like a furnace out there. Didnt sleep too well after my Physio yesterday so I'm just going to have a little siesta.

Physio again tonight so need to rest up in readiness - the treatment can be quite rough. It takes it out of me sometimes.

Branksome station is not that far from Westbourne if that's any help.

I know, and OH knows even better, LL, how rough it can be. Please just try to keep your eyes on the prize and know it will all be worth it in the end... and, perhaps, look forward to a long, hot soak, afterwards, if you can find the energy.

Looking forward to your news, AC. OH says, anywhere there are students, there will be things happening and probably a music scene. At the risk of muddying the waters, he suggested, Glastonbury, Oxford, Bristol and Cambridge; none of them cheap, admittedly.
  • Thanks verbatim& smodlet.
Those places ,are not for me smodlet . Thanks anyway :)
    Yeah verbatim , you're right .
My friend used to live in branksome . Been that station and his house a few times.
I'll probably go there next week , and see what I think :)

I had a friend in Branksome and one in Canford Cliffs. I seem to remember nice leafy suburbs but it must be over 30 years ago so have no idea what they are like now.

There was a fab shop called Beales I think although I understand it's gone now. A proper independent department store.

Smodlet......I think your OH is right about student towns and cities.

We finally got our city status in 1977 and our poly got university status sometime in the early 90s. I began my degree course in 1992 as a mature student.

We have gone from "Nottingham's poorer plainer sister" to a lively vibrant cosmopolitan happening city. Great music scene. The street where I am buying has two great pubs at the end. One has up and coming bands and the other has Latin American dancing. Literally - right up my street. :D

Nottingham may still style herself "Queen of the Midlands" but we are her cute younger sister Princess. If Nottingham is Elsa, then Derby is Anna.:rotfl:
  • Looked at purbeck heights on the map etc.,emailed my friend and it is just too far for my requirements. So I cancelled tomorrow's viewing .
I have seen something else, so emailed another agent for possible viewing .

I may do Westbourne instead tomorrow , I'll look at properties and contact one or 2 agents around midday . ( may be sooner if I can maintain privacy in office this morning ).

Very tired this morning . Didn't sleep too bad , but I spent a few hours filling in forms for solicitor last night and went to bed later than usual.

Good plan, no point in wasting time on a "no-goer".

If you don't intend being a car owner then it makes sense to buy somewhere that ticks all the boxes re shops, Amenitites etc and isn't too far out.

My new place had to meet all those requirements. Much as I love the countryside I wanted a "city pad", not stuck out in the surburbs or the middle of nowhere. I can visit countryside or the coast.

    Good luck tomorrow.

Looks like another nice day here. I need to do some paperwork and make a few phone calls today but will leave them till the hottest part of the day. I want to get out into the garden during the cooler times, the morning and later in the evening.

All of a sudden the garden is looking a bit unkempt So I'll make a start today before it gets out of hand.
  • Thanks LL
Just emailed a couple of estate agents in Westbourne .
Looks like I'll be going there tomorrow instead .
Waiting for their phone calls .
  • Okay, viewing 2 properties tomorrow . 1 is priced at £240,000( probably too much/ can't afford ) the Othet 225 or 220. ( can't remember ):)
Will talk to someone else , to see if I can view 2 more .
