That's exactly what I started doing after one of mine needed treatment of almost £1000. Couldn't afford to before then. It makes more sense, because 'touch wood' none of the other cats need the vet much, but the one who is always there costs a fortune...Not giving up

I've had cats all my life and apart from the usual run of the mill problems they haven't needed any expensive treatment. I guess they (and I) have been very lucky:T. I never had pet insurance until I got my current cat and it was only because several people I know told me of their bills of way over £1000 mainly for surgery and treatment after road accidents that I panicked and decided to take out a policy:eek:
It was really cheap at the outset (plus a lot of lovely cashback from Quidco;)) but the premium has gone up every year despite not making claims. This year it really shot up in price and it became a burden given my financial state:o. My cat is still only 7 so goodness knows how much the premium would have been when he gets old:eek:. I should have cancelled years ago and hoped for the best as I always did before. At least by saving the equivalent amount myself I know that all of it will be used if I ever need it without massive deductions for the excess and all the items in the bill that they don't cover anyway.0 -
Morning all
Was planning on a bit of a lie in this morning for my day off but have been wide awake since 6:30! Still it is nice not to have to rush about. Original plan for today was Christmas shopping but as it's Black Friday think it might be a tad busy in town! Also despite caravan money we still need to be really frugal so think I will give it a miss. My lovely mum has offered to take me out for lunch though.
Have a good day everyone
