just reject all offers lol. put the minimum you will accept is £1 less than what you started at.
I had that kept offering someone prices and they rejected them all. their minimum was 50p less than their starting price.
I know what you're saying - but even at 50p - my "Free" listing ends up costing more than it would if I'd paid to list it ! - Of course I can list a load more obscure stuff and not worry about getting no bids
I'll see how close it will let me set teh "Offer price" for auto reject - but I know it irritates me when they have an "Make an offer" box and keep rejecting - often I end up walking away from something I would have happily bought on a BiN
Oh well try it and see I suppose :beer:0 -
Personally I would sell on amazon for what I Want. Not 1p. So if you can beat to part, I would list at a price you wantProcrastinater wrote: »Completely true - I'm really going to struggle to get 100 without going "Books" - I do have some books worth a lot of money (£40 - 80 ish) but most are really only worth the Amazon 1p - well actually they're worth a lot more - but if some are selling them for 1p - you're not going to get the true value are you ?
It may just be me but for some reason, I don't want to sell the expensive ones and be left with the dross - wierd aint I ? :rotfl:0 -

You might get more for your books at a car boot. This time of year, an under-cover one is preferable :rotfl: but can chuck the lesser valuable books on the table for 50p each? Or even £1. Remember - they may be on Amazon for 1p but the buyer has to pay postage as well so getting it for £1 or 50p is a 'bargain' for the buyer and a better deal for you
Not worth doing a CB unless you have enough stuff that you reckon you can at least cover the pitch fee though.
I don't even have a car, but my friend is going to help me drag my stuff in suitcases 2 miles to the nearest one in a few weeks. Probably the only CB seller in Glasgow to turn up with her stuff on foot :rotfl:Aqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100

I know exactly what you mean, Procrastinater;)
I sell quite a lot of books on Amazon (well, attempt to/hope to anyway) and the 1p sellers are a real pain. They totally spoil it for the rest of us:mad:. I refuse to join in their little game. Once I listed a book at something like 80p (very small and light so could just about get away with a few pence profit from the postal allowance) and it appeared behind a couple of pages of 1p ones but someone still opted to buy mine quite soon after listing:j. I suspect it's something to do with perceived value, anything costing a mere 1p can't be any good type of thing.
Most of the 1p sellers are big businesses and I suppose they can stand the loss but there is no way they can make any profit on a book even with preferential postage rates and less fees if the book is anything heavier/thicker than the cheapest 'large letter' price.
It's a problem to know what to do with the more popular books that Amazon is awash with at 1p a time so I tend to sell mine at car boot sales (along with other stuff) throughout the season. Even at 40p each/3 for £1 it's a lot better than losing money on Amazon and they sell like hot cakes usually.0 -

Dyou know what ? - I LIKE that idea - normally at car boots and charity shops there are just millions of books [ I get "overload" and I LOVE books ! ]- Maybe I can just take a few of various bubjects - "Self help" "Stock market trading" "Gardening", "Handicrafts" "Gambling" etc - clearly labelled in small boxes of say half a dozen for each subject and see what happens.
I used to do a lot of car boots many years ago and my van stayed loaded from one week to the next - but I haven't done one for something like 20 years ! :shocked:0 -

I'm taking along a few of mine (only 15-20 or so I think although I didn't count and they're packed away now. I don't have that many books that aren't either Discworld books or about Egyptology) on Dec 5th so whoever gets done first can report back on success ratesAqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100
