sorry..it all does not ring true anymore. Col Mastard said that the police told him that the car was registered to a local person - why would a local person move their car from their own home to his..even if they thought they were parking somewhere else ????? I think its porky pies!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

Absolutely no idea .. but if you lived locally to someone else would you move your car and park it somewhere else when you went on holiday ???? After the massive thread - you would have thought that Col Mastard would have given more information on the car being moved...what the person said..what they said back..what their excuse was.. etc etc etc. They must have known we were all waiting for the juicy details! Of course I could be wrong - probably am - but it just seems a bit strange.I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0 -
Firstly; Apologies for not posting for last 6 weeks or so, (My close friend passed away and I had go the US to attend his funeral)
Secondly; I just want to say Thank You to all the MSE’s who posted on this thread for all your help and advice – Many Thanks…...Long may this great site continue!!!
A elderly neighbours grandson parked his car on my drive and went away on holiday, you would’ve have thought he’d stopped to make sure that it was ‘HIS’ granddads house before leaving, as he knew you’d be away for 2 weeks!!! (But then again, not everyone’s born with brain cells)
The police were absolutely no help, they just wanted me to get out of the station asap, so they could drink their tea/coffee in peace….and told me to take it up with the Council
The Council didn’t want to know; they claimed they only removed abandoned vehicles from the pubic roads and not on private land…and this matter is for the police to deal with!....But for a ‘‘small’’ fee of around £150 they could remove it within 6 – 8 Weeks!!!!0 -

Thanks for the update! I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope the trip the US was still somewhat pleasant on some level.
I'm glad that kid finally came back and took away his car!:beer:0 -
Go to your local MP and say the Police wanted nothing to do with it! Surely if YOU own the house and someone has parked on YOUR property, they are breaking the law!!??
As a tax-payer, you are entiled to a better service from your local authorities than petty buck-passing.0 -
Simple trespass like that isn't a crime...its a civil matter. As can be seen in this case, it was just a mistake.
You can sue or seek an injunction against the owner in a civil court, but you can't have them arrested. It would be like phoning the police if Currys sold you a duff computer and wouldn't give you a refund.
You are also able to use reasonable self-help to remove a trespasser (or their car), but that can be a legal minefield and you might find yourself in court if you overdo it.
Personally as a taxpayer, I'd rather the police concentrate on catching criminals, not wasting time and money on silly things like this.0 -
Wow just noticed this thread appear again...
Thanks for the update Col.Mastard... always good to know the outcome of some of these threads... so many folk ask questions or advice and never let on what happened next!! ... conspiracy theories were rife!!0 -
I feel (not just in this case, but things in everyday life), if you mistakenly drop a piece of litter on the street, hidden camera’s will snap at you and you’ll get a court summons in the next mornings post…..But if you carried around, a semi automatic, no one wants to know!!!???.....0

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided
#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now
#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing0
