Abandoned Vehicle on my Drive!

Last year, the police broke into my flat while I was at work, smashing down the outer front door and my own front door, because they were looking for a "missing person" (who was asleep in his own house down the road). I had to pay for the damage myself.
They also recovered a brand new mobile phone stolen from my home - well, the thief handed it in (still in its box) when he found out it had been reported - the police then mislaid the phone for 3 months after he was prosecuted. After constant chasing, I finally got the phone back (out of box) but it was water-damaged, completely broken and not covered by warranty / insurance.
Hmm... but I'm still a supporter of the good work they do, I wouldn't fancy living in a country without them.
Anyway - how about that update, OP???Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Some git broke into my garage, all they stole was a can with a few litres of petrol. I called the police, more to make sure a crime was registered, than expecting anything to happen.
The rozzers were round within an hour took a statement & a SOCA came round to dust for prints the following morning. (Calling me half an hour before he arrived so I didn't have to miss a morning's work - I wish delivery companies did that)
So while they never caught the chap, hats off Co Durham constabulary for, what I feel was, a damn fine response. (& the police woman was pretty hot too :smileyhea)"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

GOOD. An arrogant w&nker who thinks they are such a good driver that the speed limit shouldn't / doesn't apply to them could kill me / my family. A car mis-parked on a drive or someone nicking my car stereo won't.
Kinetic energy is proportional to the square of speed.0 -

Ohhhhhh. So that's why the police section on my council tax bill is so large  [Sedgefield Bough has one of the highest charges (I'm paying £100+ for a band A property)] Its the evil petrol stealers that are doing it!!!0 -
I have to say, just to add some balance, that my last encounter with the police left me with a very positive impression.
We have a monitored house alarm that incorporates a panic button. My wife accidently pressed the panic button once (not sure how!) and two police officers arrived at our house very promptly - I was still on the 'phone to the alarm call centre! They politely explained why they were there and asked if they could come in to check that everything was OK (which, of course, they should as they didn't know that I was the owner of the house).
I do share the view, and perhaps it is just a perception, that police resources are disproportionately applied to catching speeding motorists but when it (potentially) mattered for us they were there. :T«««¤ Richie ¤»»»0 -
A parked car can be bounced out of the way, very easily, you need 3 friends, stand at each corner, and start bouncing the suspension, and build it up, then on an upstroke, two of the friends push in the direction that you want it to go in. And repeat, the owners would never no the difference, Try that or find a friend with a suitable large vehicle, and drag it off your land.0

Glad you have managed to resolve it. This happens a lot to us and it is bloody annoying. You also can't mistake that ours is a private space as we have had our front lawn paved so we can park the car but I would say at least once a month we come home and someone has either parked on our driveway or parked across our driveway. It happened yesterday and we honked our horn and it turned out to be our next door enighbours parents who came out immediately, were very apologetic and moved the car immediately, so it wasn't a problem. However, one family a few doors down seem to advise their friends to park wherever on our street rather than in the parking bays a bit further round and really aren't that bothered about moving their cars when you want access to your driveway. It is just ignorant and rude in those circumstances imho.MFIT No. 810

Are you joking????? (Guy_Montag)
There is just no way our police force (Devon & Cornwall) would send anyone out to that sort of crime!
The station was probably having a "bet" sending out a pretty young WPC on a "job" that they would not normally respond to and the SOCA person was probably a trainee sent out to get some work experience.
In Torquay you have to be shot, stabbed, strangled and also walking around with an axe sticking out of your head (on a Friday night)before the police respond - and then they ask; "can you make your own way to the station sir?" :mad:0 -

Someone parked in the wrong house and went on Holiday to Egypt!!!
I AGREE WE ARE ALL WAITING TO HEAR THIS STORY IN FULL, Explain how come the police told you the owners were in the same locality? if they were why would they need to park in the same area?0
