Haggling with BT via internet chat?

I'm looking to cut the price of my broadband package, but I'm useless at speaking on the phone. Has anyone been able to haggle with BT via their live internet chat service?

Also, I'm looking for some general advice about haggling. I notice they have some juicy £75 Sainsbury's vouchers for the package I'm currently on, is there any way to haggle them into the deal, or do they purely reserve them for new customers?

As always these offers are meant to be for new customers. However some posters on here have said that they managed to get a voucher as part of a retention deal although they've had to chase for it afterwards.

Best way to go about haggling is to have details of deals available from other providers and your current provider as you then have something to work on.

I see sky have increased the m/s voucher to £75, the deal ends tomorrow my ,Grandson is off till then, he is going to see what he can get me, so tempted to phone tt, toaday, and see if they can match sky, or just move, taking this offer, via cashback site.?
bite the bullet;;Fed up humming and harring.
    2 things of concern.
sky not being llu, so speed, getting 14,mbs with tt.Do they use Bt gear?

As I've said before Sky is LLU provided it's in your exchange which you told me they were. So you will more than likely get the same speed. They will give you an estimate on sign up once you put your number in.
    taking my number with me.

It shouldn't be a problem, especially as you said it was originally a BT phone number. Just make sure to enter your number and postcode when it asks as it will check what you're able to get before you finally confirm the order.

You sign up for Sky and let them handle the transfer. Do not cancel with TalkTalk as that can cause problems and would probably lose your number.

Hi jem, bit the bullet and phoned TT at .Preston, good person , good chat.
    Re-signed new contract for 18 months @ £7.50 pm, same as old contract.unlimited BB, anytime calls , and Mobs.+ LR @ £16pm, ( upfront)=£23.50 pm.
    Stay put.
I think the Hacking did me a favour.
Moving to Sky was my option, which I told him, so he matched it, or beat it really, but, no vouchers.

£16pm OR upfront of £191 - is that upfront over 12 months? If so it's only £1 saving. I'm sure you can't mean that.

    No Sky dropped their LRS.

I expect they are. 3 hacks in a year is not good.

    Hi,yes , It's £191 upfront for the year = £16 per month.as against £17.40 for Sky, from Dec.
    Last year I paid £172.upfront.
Not a massive saving now for upfront paying, but £1.40 pm is some thing.
I think all 4 big boys are £17+pm
Hardly seems worth paying upfront now.

No what I was meaning was what is the cost per month for TalkTalk line rental if you don't pay upfront.

Hardly seems worth paying upfront now.

No it isn't and I wouldn't bother with it now as it just ties you in with very little saving. BT and PlusNet also lowered the saving.

Virgin is the only one with a decent saving still but that may change.

Anyway - sorry OP for hijacking your thread.
