I bought a uk2abroad sim for my sons trip to America so I'll let you know how he gets on with it.

He'll be using skype most of the time but I'd like to be able to keep in touch when he is on the move.

Cheers mate, the more info the better, let us know how it goes :)

Ordered yesyerday, received today (via recorded post) and loaded up tonight - all good so far. :)

Brother has now also ordered a pair to take to Turkey, so there will be a few of us trying them out.

  • Can anyone give me some advice about what to do about a mobile phone/camera when my 17 year old goes to Peru for a month at the beginning of July, with World Challenge? At first his group weren't going to take a mobile at all, now they've decided to all get a cheapie payg from, say ASDA. But what about the Sim, which one would be best? He hopefully won't be using it much to ring home, just if in dire need. And would it be better just to get a cheap disposable camera? Any advice is appreciated, as I don't know where to start!

Done a couple of test calls here in the uk, looks like it costs 12p per min to call from your 3 or vodafone mob to the international sim. 10p from bt and 18 or 14 from Ntl.

Sorry I cant offer any advice on Peru as it looks like one of the dearest place's to receive or make calls, advise him to not use the mobile except in extreme circumstances.

Maybe some one with experience of Peru will be able to offer more constructive advice. Sorry :(

Does the caller who phones you pay a high tariff for the call?
Not at all. Because Sim2Go customers are given a normal UK mobile number, their callers simply pay the same rate as if they were calling an UK mobile phone. If the caller has cross-network minutes available on their monthly contract, calls to a Sim2Go are free.

The companies have different rates too. I must admit, I was looking at www.sim2go.co.uk which have teh edge as far as I can see.

I've been looking at both companies, simstogo seems to have a better rate for me (calling from Kenya). I can't seem to find any company information i.e. address or company number ect on the sim2go website where I found it easily on simstogo. TBH reliability is higher on my list than cost, I'd hate for my daughter who is doing the traveling not to be able to contact me easily.
