020 is the access number to the call-through provider that charges 5p+2p/min.
There are many call through providers to the US who don't charge any fee - You just dial the inclusive callthrough number - eg.

Tried these last night for a hotel in America, only worked on the hotels toll-free 800 number. When I dialed their regular number I was advised to use an 0843 access number0 -

I've been using these access numbers for years to many different numbers in the US without any problems - never tried them on toll-free numbers though.0 -
SWISS Mobile could be useful for some, not always the cheapest but cheap in many countries.

I got a 'welcome to the UK' text showing rates double what I had expected. I reported this. They said they were changing UK suppliers and sent me a new SIM. OK then. Perhaps.
Arriving in South Africa, I got a 'welcome to South Africa' text showing rates double what I had expected. Also data was not live so I could not use data. Reporting this, I was told they were changing their supplier - familiar? - but would honour the 'old' rates for the time being.
That was a couple of weeks ago but checking their website, I see they are still promoting the old SA rates as current. In short, I would use the old rates. The rates in their welcome message are too expensive.
As always, others' experience may be different.0 -
Anyone tried the newly included Spanish Feel Like Home offering? My folks are over soon & dad has a three sim, so keen to hear any feedback.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

I have been in Spain from 29 March to 24 April and, after 1st April it has worked like a charm. Free calls to and from any UK mobiles and landlines, including ourselves whilst roaming.
As per the data, it tends to connect to the YOIGO network which is quite unreliable. You may get anything from just a few Kbps to 6 or 7 Mbps. By connecting manually to the ORANGE or MOVISTAR networks the Internet works much better, speeds in my experience from 3 Mbps to 12 Mbps depending on where you are and time of day.
Overall quite happy with it.0 -

Confused a little. Going to France for 4 weeks this summer and will need to take a phone.
Wife contacted to 3 so I assume all calls, texts and data used within her contact will be free, as if in the UK.
I am contacted to Orange, and have a locked phone, I tend to use mainly data and a few texts. Am i best to buy a French PAYG sim? If so any recommendation
Thanks0 -

Pay As You Go - Warning: not allowed in South America for 3 PAYG SIM
Following all the dire warnings about stolen contract phones running up huge bills, my daughter checked 3's coverage in South America and decided to use a PAYG SIM rather than her 3 contract SIM only to find that 3 doesn't allow PAYG to be used in South America, despite quoting costs for making calls!!!
Don't know if this is the same for other UK Mobile Phone operators?
Unfortunately she is there for 6mths now and her phone is locked to 3 network, and unlocking would require her to receive a code over the phone which won't connect...... otherwise she could obtain a local SIM.0
