Supermarket gripes!

Don't know if this is the place to post this?

Does anyone else get frustrated by those why wait until all of their shopping has gone through the till before they start hunting for their purse/wallet? Given there's usually a queue, why do people do this?

Because its probably best to keep your purse away in a bag until payment is due so its not picked up by anyone or misplaced while you are putting everything on the conveyor belt.

I keep my purse in a zipped up pocket and only get it out once I have packed my shopping. I will not be rushed, my purse goes back into my pocket before I leave the shop. There are opportunist thieves about who will take a chance and snatch a purse. I am patient with other people who wish to do the same, especially older people who may fumble a bit.

Perhaps because they can only do one thing at once - e.g. pack shopping away.

Perhaps they have a disability that makes them slower attacking shopping and getting purse out would in reality slow things down. Don't forget many disabilities are not visible!

Perhaps because they do not want to attract theft with a purse out on checkout.

So you'd prefer they stand their with their purse in their hands whilst all the shopping goes through, pay for their shopping promptly and then start packing their shopping away? Of course not - whilst they aren't holding their purse, they have two hands free to pack their stuff so that when they've paid they can quickly leave.

No: I would hope they could do both at the same time? Maybe because I pay by card and usually get it out when I join the queue, ) don't see the problem.

Nothing to do with age, in my case as I (unfortunately) definitely qualify as an older person! On this basis, I rarely go shopping when those who work do, as I think it's only fair not to make the shop busier than it need be.

Looks like I'm in the minority here - maybe I'm just becoming more impatient!

And this sort of specious crying wolf is what causes people with disabilities more and real problems. Genuine concerns are overlooked because they end up being lumped in with nonsense like this.

I've no idea, but it does irritate me.

When i drove the Cab passengers would do do the same thing. They knew what the fare was going to be before they got in. From Tesco to their house they'd done 100 times before, and yet they'd sit looking out of the window then start searching for their purse when i got them home.

Even worse are those that stand andw atch all the shopping gping through and piling up.
After it is all through they start to pack it.

After it is packed to their liking they hunt for their purse and then hunt for the money to pay.

Maybe one dy that will be you or me.
