    But most of all, I dislike the way big supermarkets take £millions and then refuse to pay their staff a living wage.

    And yet apparently you still shop there. I'd imagine if you felt strongly enough you'd vote with your feet?

    I can't understand people who pile all their shopping into the trolley and once the trolley is full again and they've paid, they then spend a further 10 minutes packing it into bags. When I go supermarket shopping (even at Aldi/Lidl where they put your groceries through at a fast rate of knots) I pack it into large bags for life etc as I go (I do make it easier for myself by the way I put the shopping onto the conveyer belt beforehand, ie heavy things first to go through and bread last).

    It's so easy to do, that I dont get why it's not the 'normal' way of doing it;
    organise your items on the conveyor as you take them out of the trolley/basket, then theyre easily ready for bagging

    Doesn't bother me at all, i shop at Aldi. Shopping on conveyor belt, move to checkout, put shopping back in trolley, pay, move away from the checkout, then check my receipt before packing my shopping. The whole procedure takes about 5 minutes at the most. Even people with huge trolley loads are moved through quickly. I can't stand shopping in other supermarkets now, it all takes so long.

    The opposite for me, Aldi isn't designed for shoppers just picking up a pint of milk or something.

    There's no self service, unlike other supermarkets, so you would have to queue behind people with massive trolleys.

    And they only ever seem to have one checkout open, two if lucky, despite big queues.

    Can't stand the place.

    My Morrisons is like that most nights now
    The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

    Who will we blame then?

    I usually let people with one or two items go in front of me.
  • I only shop online. The whole thing just seems like a minefield.
    After all, you never know what absent-minded behaviour will send the person behind you into a rage. :p

    I avoid the checkouts completely with Tesco's "Scan as you Shop". Far better, and more fun.

    If all the prices went up by 20% to pay for this would you be happy or would you complain then probably shop somewhere else saying it's better value?

    It irritates me when customers start to drum their fingers before the till drawer opens.

    I used to do this. That was when a friend and I were doing a weekly shop for 3 or 4 adults on foot, so had to pack everything into a hiking rucksack. Even with an organised way of putting things on the conveyor, it took longer to pack the rucksack properly than for it to be scanned, so we chucked it all into the trolley and sorted it afterwards to avoid holding folk up. Also, we often had more than one transaction (my shopping, her shopping, joint shopping, housemate's shopping) but wanted to carry it in the same giant rucksack, so it was easier to sort it all out at the end. We always had the relevant payment methods/loyalty cards tucked neatly into a pocket ready to produce quickly though!
