Well, here we are. Pear-Woman is back. Busy but useful day in the kitchen. Been listening to audiobook - a novel about a complicated affair. Felt grateful the only complication in my life at the moment is what to do with my body-weight in pears. Money saving stuff since this morning:
*Invented my own recipe for BBQ pear sauce. Most pleasant! Used pretty much the same quantity of fruit & vinegar as the brown sauce recipe I shared, but added different ingredients & the resulting sauce was lovely AND used up about a kilo of pears.
*Baked two pear & cinnamon cakes. Froze one whole & sliced the other one & wrapped in individual slices before freezing so they can be taken out for packed lunches, picnics, etc. Used 5 pears.
*Baked 20 pear & almond mini-muffins. Froze two thirds of them. Used 2 pears, plus the 2 I ate while I was peeling & chopping them.
*Made wholemeal bread rolls. (Sadly no pears needed).
*Made pizza for tonight's dinner (ditto)
*Made tomorrows's packed lunch & work snacks (1 pear included).
*made lemon posset for dessert tomorrow (am making nice meal for our anniversary) to give it plenty of time to set.
*Laundry almost got dry outside. Have put it over heated airer for just a couple of hours to finish off big items like towels & jeans. Timer set for another cheap wash overnight.
*Reached cash-in on One-poll, so have claimed my £40.
*Went through tomatoes in my 'ripening bag' & moved all the newly ripened ones to the fridge. Not many green ones left now.
*Cut salad leaves for tonight's salad..........which was a good thing, except that.......
*.....on the way back in, I noticed there were another 6 pears down off the tree, so those have filled up some of the space in the pear basket I'd just spent all morning clearing! Had a pear-based moan when mr f got in & he's done his bit by eating 4 for dessert!!
Sorry to have gone on about bloody pears again! My sympathies to all poorly people - Bob - that sounds horrible whatever it is. Hope your GP can help. This might provide a tiny cheer-up if anyone needs one. Mr f was at work today & a child said to him, "You look just like Paul Hollywood, only older". mr f doesn't know whether to be flattered or not......seeing as he is YOUNGER than the said Mr Hollywood! Kids, telling it like it is, lol!
OK, time for the knitting to come out, or I wont get the other presents knitted in time......or indeed this one!
Love to all,

DNMS - The payment for your new door should come from the plasterer's insurance which will probably be Public Liability Insurance or similar. I would tell him that he needs to pay you the cost of the door OR make a claim for you to be paid via his insurance. If you were to report the incident to your own home insurance provider, they would also want the details of his Insurer so as to claim from them. Either way, I think, he, as well as your door, is busted.

DNMS - not for you to pay - & if you do decide to withhold £50 then make sure it's enough to cover the damage.

Good evening

Welcome ClootiesMum - this is a fantastic and very supportive thread. I get an awful lot out of posting on here every day. I find I get lots more done if I list it and hold myself accountable.
Bob - I hope that you've managed to get some help at the doctors. I don't know if I've ever had full blown sinusitis, but if I ever can't shift the grotty cold/flu headache and stuffy feeling I swear by Sudafed. Even works when my migraine meds don't...
Foxgloves - I would gladly take some of your pears if I were close by. Our pear tree caught a disease and had to be cut down a couple of years ago.
Your sauce sounds yummy. And your husband too if he looks like Paul Hollywood
:rotfl:
DNMS - of course your plasterer is mad, you've caught him out and he's hoping you wouldn't have noticed. I would have thought a new door would have cost hundreds so I think £50 is letting him off very lightly. If he's going to be a pain about it then I'd go through his insurers.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

I've had a pretty productive day. Did some more cooking with the kids - we made pizza pinwheels and syrup sponge and custard today. Loads of food on the go
Got a rest during the afternoon and then went and got some exercise in.
Having a bit of an issue with an injury I picked up at work last week. In a nutshell, I got burned with some concentrated acid, which was partly my fault and partly theirs. I treated it myself (as I knew exactly what to do) didn't report it, and had no issues with it until Saturday when it got very painful. I went to minor injuries and it was dressed and I was told to keep it covered and dry. I've spent a fortune on replacement dressings and disposable gloves. I didn't want to report it at work because I didn't want a fuss, and didn't think it was a big deal - but I'm getting a bit peeved that I've spent almost £15 on treating it so far. Wondering if I can claim it back...:oNot giving up

Evening folks.
Worked very late. Only got home at 9! Nothing done as a result but did have a very quick dinner. Chilli from the freezer with cous cous instead of rice.
Bob - hope the doc can do something

No NSD for me today
(won an auction in ebay - lowest and only bid though so yay for a bargain).
Dinner tonight: warmed up leftovers from yesterday - mashed potato (homemade) and one slice of pizza (Mr T frozen one) Yum.
Wrapped up in a warm bathrobe, no heating on and now starting to feel a bit chilly, but heading upstairs for warm bed with mattress heater on...
Tomorrow will only pay to get to work (as I must) and take my lunch with me so I think that will count as NSD..0 -
Good evening, I have been busy all day with uni and work so I have not had a chance to get on till now.
Today I have:
Had all meals from stores
Worked (9-2)
Uni (3-6)
Checked Luckyphone, FPL and daily on JPJ
Done some work on assessment for uni
Made a post on tumblr (I discovered this site at the weekend when I was procrastinating from studying)
I think that is everything that I have managed to get completed today. Hope everyone has had a good Monday x0
