    News:

Insurance Premium Tax is going up from 6% to 9.5% from 1 Nov. Therefore if your home, car or pet insurance is due in November it might be cheaper for you to renew your policy a couple of days earlier to avoid the tax hike.

Need objective opinions! The plasterer broke my door on Friday and it can't be repaired and to be honest I don't want a broken door! (he didn't even tell us I only found out as I was tidying up!) He said the work was going to take 2 days and he would charge us £250. I have said I'm going to hold back £50 to get a new door. This has not gone down well. Would you guys do the same?

I would say to him he has two choices: Lose £50 from what you pay him or you'll be requesting a claim form from his Public Liability Insurance company and he'll have to pay bigger premiums on his insurance going forward.

I would definitely say the same as Ally. How rude of him to not even tell you - so I wouldn't feel sorry for him!

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Crawling in with my pathetic update for the day. I am really sick and I hate it. I cant even remember the last time I was and now its like ALL the sickness has decended on me.
It started to move from a standard cold/flu yesterday evening. I said to OH I feel like someone has punched me in the face, my jaw line hurts on one side, & my teeth feel like they do when you've been grinding them in your sleep but 100 x. Anyway, this morning I got up, & the other side felt like that too. I cant taste anything at all. The cold & flu meds arent touching it (interesting Twiggy thanks) & I have managed to get a docs appointment in around 40 mins this evening.
I've chatted to a couple of people who said it sounds like it might be sinusitus. Its hideous whatever it is. I cant eat because my jaw hurts too much, about the same as when I had my wisdoms out & you cant move your jaw for days aftewards. Not great when Im supposed to be eating another 500 cals a day to provide for a baby, really had enough.

Anyway thats the excitement of my days at the moment. Am praying that the doctor takes pity on me and gives me something to help rather than just says time will help.

My sole act of money saving today was to pay the min on my CC, so I have just £89 now between me and being under £3,000.

Sorry not to post back to everyone else today.

    Bob

I think you are being more than reasonable. I can't believe he didn't tell you, did he seriously think you would not notice?

  • Aw Bob yes it sounds like sinusitus. I have only had it once but I remember feeling as if someone had punched me. The good news is that once I got antibiotics (or whatever the docs gave me) it cleared up quickly.

I had £40 for food shopping today and I spent £40.48 so I am really pleased. I toyed with the idea of going round the supermarket using the calculator on my phone but decided to wing it in the end.

I had a giggle to myself this morning. My boss (who is loaded) asked me if he could borrow £1 as he needed a pound coin for some reason. I wanted to say to him that he couldnt because I need it for my gym class tonight. He wouldnt have believed me if I had told him how skint I am this week.

dnm our friends were having some new worktops fitted and the fitter dropped and smashed their belfast sink. They insisted on paying for a new one, OK so it was an accident but I wouldnt have been so generous! I would be really annoyed that he was obviously hoping you wouldnt notice until he was paid.

Right, got to feed everyone. Back later x

    Hi,

Can I join? I need the impetus of a threat of a kick up the butt in the event of can'tbearrisedness....

I like the layout of (I think) legomum's posts - hope you don't mind if I borrow it.

And this would have been on this morning but the forums are banned from work.
