Which Bread Maker?

My SIL has started to make bread as she has recently become an OS convert, however she is making it by hand and says that she absolutely hates doing it, but likes the results. As she has little money and is extremely hard to buy for at Christmas I thought I might get her a breadmaker. I know that the Panasonic is supposed to be the best but my funds won't run to that so I wondered if anyone could recommend one that they have had good results with which costs up to £50? I bought myself the Tesco one earlier this year but took it back because the bread it made was a disaster.
Many thanks!Jane

When my bifinett died whilst in the process of making bread i bought cookworks from Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?pp=20&s=Price%3A+Low+-+High&x=10&y=10&storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001151&langId=-1&q=BREADMAKER and i am highly impressed. It is currently selling for £23.42 but will likely go down tomorrow if the vat rates are reduced..My favourite bread so far from the cook works has been the Irish soda bread.0

Hi
I've got a Panasonic and had it roughly three years and still using it several times a week and very rarely buying bread now.
They are more expensive but you do get your moneys worth.
Is there anyone who could halves or christmas and birthday ??0 -
We've got a Morphy Richards Fastbake and I have been so disappointed with it. My friend spent more money on the Panasonic and her bread is unbelievable - she also tried her recipe on mine and it was terrible, so it's not me. Until I tasted her bread I just thought that was what breadmaker bread was like... I know others have had a different experience, but I just thought I'd mention it. I'm on the verge of getting a Panasonic myself. I think sooty&sweep's ideas is great - see if you can go halves somehow.0

We were given a Morphy Richards Fastbake as a wedding present and it makes lovely bread!!
There seems to be so much variation between opinions and breadmakers, it's very confusing!
Sounds like a brilliant idea for your friend, even if she just uses it to make the dough and then bakes in the oven it would be better.

I like the MR Fastbake myself, each to their own I suppose. Marshall Ward offer doesn't seem bad................................you shouldn't post these things as I will have to have a look now
but I think I want the one with the auto seed/raisin adder bit
Great idea for a gift by the way! I'd maybe put a few bits inside like the basics, yeast, dried milk, bread flour etc so she can make her first loaf without having to go to the shop. Wrap all the bits up. Give her them first. Then the BM as a second supriseOne day I might be more organised...........
