Hi there, I live in a remote rural area, and round here the breadmaker is used all the time by farmers' wives and everyone else! I have a Morphy Richards but was disappointed with the results, and asked others. Everyone said the Panasonic was the best. When I googled reviews, I couldn't find a bad word ont he panasonic so I got one.
No regrets, and I've just made a French loaf today and a brown one yesterday - brown flour (rather than wholemeal) is particularly good. Rolls and pizzas are done by using the dough setting and then finishing off yourself. I have altered the recipes slightly - a matter of taste - I don't use dried milk just milk and water, not so much water, not so much salt, definitely not so much sugar, but its very forgiving. Some have a jam setting (MR) and some have anut and dried fruit dispenser (means you don't have to wait for the beep to add the extras.
you may like to ask around friends and family to see if anyone can lend you one first, as like all kitchen gadgets, you may find you don't use it enough or that you haven't got room for it.Jan 2012: CC £2,340.30, 2nd mortgage £22,932, Mortgage £57,5380 -
pizza dough is very easily made even without a breadmaker, if you search the threads on this board you'll find plenty of info0

I'll add this to the existing thread on which BM people choose
so that you can look at more opinions.

I've got one coming tomorrow. Been out and after reading all the threads on here, bought a couple of bread mixes (59p from Tesco's) and flours (like the grained bread). I went this route because in my opinion, fresh HM bread tastes so much better and there have been timeswhen I just could not afford bread at the prices u pay now (and I can't face eating the super cheap cardboard). Halve the price of a loaf, and better tasting (I hope).., u can't beat that lol.
I'm gonna be in the kitchen a lot tomorrow lol0 -
Has anyone got / tried this breadmaker - would like some feedback / comments before getting it. http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-7334.aspx

After reading this thread - I decided to buy a panasonic - SD54 (I think that is the model). I got it from Marshall Ward because it is £79 on there but there is a discount code for £30 off first order on the 'discount codes board' so I have got it delivered today for just over £50 - I can't wait to get home and try it. I went out last night to buy some bread flour so I am all set up to make my first loaf tonight.0
