Which Bread Maker?

Options
Hi
My faithful breadmaker has just stopped working after many years of faithful service, have had a quick look in argos and they have quite a few to choose from, most seem to offer the same programmes etc,
any comments on these?
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4229399.htm
or

or any other reccomendations, quite like the idea of the 1hr programme but does that alter the quality of the bread?
thanks
Jim

    Hi 1jim,

Personally I'd go for the Morphy Richards one...but only because I have one and I love it! On the other hand, it is quite a bit more expensive than the cookworks.

These older threads might help you to decide:

    cheap (ish) breadmaker please

Can anyone recommend a good Breadmaker?

I'd say the fastbake. It's more useful (though more expensive, I know) and it's one of the top two recommends by Old Style posters.

You can read up a whole lot more here:-

And sooner or later you'll spot our very own Morphy Richard fastbake club :)

Edit: And I've only ever had one duff loaf from it - and that was MY fault.

I am sure this has been asked many time before, and I know that different people will have different views, but I need some guidance.

I bought one many years ago, tried it, didn't like the results (very doughy)(packet mix (I know now)), but am tempted to try again. Price is not the problem, but value for money is.

I have seen the new Panasonic advertised at £85, and then there is the MR £36.47. Both seem to have blade that either retract or go flat as I didnt like the hole in the loaf either, but results are important.

    Help please

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?

The two most recommended BM's are the Panasonic 252/3 and the MR Fastbake.

You can see threads about each of them and comments from users here:-

  • I've had an MR Fastbake for about 5 years now, but recently shelled out for the Panasonic SD255 (the one with the nut dispenser).

I have to say that in my experience, the quality & consistency of the Panasonic is far superior to that of the MR. There is also no comparison when you look at the features & options of each - although, whether one actually needs/uses all the Panasonic options is a different matter ;)

    Hi

I've got an old Panasonic one (SD253) which I have used most weeks for about three years. It cost about £80 when new, so if I had to choose one today, I would get another Panasonic machine. They have one that auto loads chopped items such as olives, currants etc. which is a great feature as it means you don't have to go back to the machine to put these in manually. I think the new one is the 255.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

    Hi perfectlypoor

I am in the same boat as you, my birthday was tuesday I have just under £40 left. I too am putting it towards a breadmaker and after reading through loads of posts here i am definately going to get the panasonic one and wait until i have enough money for it.
I would rather wait and get the best one and the one that i will be really happy with rather than one that i may only want to change in a few months.

I haven't decided whether to try to get the 255 which is the newest and £85 n amazon or the next one down which i think was £70 on amazon and which i will be able to get a bit sooner....hehe

    Good luck whatever you decide.

    Mel x
